  1. I have doubts about the swap when the electrical wiring, does anyone know if I have a DME from the 1.8 wiring if it is compatible for the new m54 engine, I had an accident with my e46 330ci and it was declared a total loss and I have a complete car to do a swap which I want to do on my z3. If someone could help me I appreciate it, thanks
  2. A good set of Z3 (E36/7) seats are getting really hard to find. I have the opportunity to get a set of standard Z3 seats that need recovering. The cost to recover them with real leather, fit new seat belt guides and seat bushings comes out at $1,500. Is that too expensive for people to buy them? How does that compare with recovered seats for other BMW's?

  5. Hi there, im after the drivers rear trailing arm and half axle for a 1998 wide body Z3 roadster. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you! 😊
  6. Was under the bonnet of the 2.0 L Mora Z3 today and noticed that the center caps on top of the struts was pocking above the steelwork. Had a look at the 3.0 L Z3 and it is really different. I replaced the strut mounts on the 2.0 L Mora Z3 in May 2016 with Meyle parts. The car has now done 32,800 km on the strut mounts. They look to me to be failing. What do you think? The photos with the black steelwork are the 2.0 L Mora Z3 and the red steel work is the 3.0 L Z3 for comparison. The 3.0 L Z3 has only done 64,300 km in its 20 year life, so should look brand new.
  7. Hello, I am Jouni, I am new to the form as I got my first proper BMW recently. Long story short, I flew down and bought my dream car (Z3 2.8 manual) from Wellington, and seems like the car is cursed to never leave Wellington. My former boss has decided to close down the business. Luckily me being resourceful, got a Job lined up. Only one problem, I need to be breathing Wellington air by 3 June 2019. So if you Bimmer is looking for a curse companion with a friendly person tagged along, hit me up. I am not too fussy with the room, as long as my bimmer has a safe place to sleep in the night. I work In IT and is as straight as my bimmer if that matter.
  8. This stunning example of a rare, unusual and appreciating BMW classic was imported from Japan 3 months ago. Due to unforeseen circumstances (a crash of a race car), a bucket list 'forever' car will now be sold. Will keep the description very clean and straight forward, any serious inquiries can get in contact with me via cell phone to discuss. This vehicle is simply immaculate and as good as they get, price is ONO. I’m not really interested in trades, but maybe, depending on what it is and the value. Hawkes Bay BMW gave this a clean bill of health upon its arrival as well as a full service. 1999 BMW M Coupe, AC Schnitzer, Estoril Blue - 86,000kms - Left hand drive - 5 speed manual - 3.2 M3 engine S50B32 - AC wing mirrors - AC front bumper - AC rear spoiler - AC rear diffuser - AC exhaust - AC suspension - AC carbon interior trim - AC pedals - AC steering wheel (not in car), factory air bag wheel reinstalled - AC rear harness/strut bar - ARC front strut brace - K&N Filter - Nappa blue/black leather interior, heated electric seats - Sunroof - 3 keys - Not registered, compiled or warranted - Can be registered now with Special Interest Vehicle permit and a Left Hand Drive permit - Can be registered in April 2019 with just LHD permit - Currently located in Hawkes Bay, can deliver (via trailer) by negotiation - Includes "ZMMM" personalised plate Wouldnt let me upload photos so trademe link is attached.. $44,000 https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1790368017
  9. Hi all. I read around about cleaning the soft top and there are quite a few recommendations I have found on US forums, but they are using a range of products that are not readily available in NZ. For those out there with soft tops, what do you guys use to clean and condition them? My lid is gray rather than black Thanks - Roger T
  10. Hi The Getrag 220 manual in my Z3 is getting notchy when changing gear. Car has 170,000 km on the clock and running Redline D4 ATF in the transmission. Is there a better fluid to put in it to reduce the problem? Do the Getrag transmissions have detent problems that can be easily fixed? Regards Murray
  11. Hi All, I've finally managed to get started on my midlife crisis... with the purchase of a 2002 Z3 3.0i Roadster in Cosmos Schwarz. Never really had a decent car in the past, always driven practical family wagons, or petrol savers, so really looking forward to enjoying a little bit of silliness on the weekends. The car is a definitely not new, it has some pretty heavy stone chipping on the bonnet, and rear wheel arches. Its also got some strong swirl marks and scratches in the paintwork from rough cleaning. The Softtop could do with a refurbish and the back windows cloudy, and I've got some work to do to bring the interior up to a high standard... but it'll give me something to do, and practice on, without being scared of breaking the bank. I intend doing an upgrade to the exhaust. Its stock exhaust is just a little to gentrified for me, Id like it to let people know its not its smaller brother (the 2.2 version) without shaking the house to bits every time i start it up I am probably also going to put some new 18'' wheels on when the rubber next needs replacing, and maybe a few other little upgrades.
  12. Now this looks fun Oh for more garages .... https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1580254546.htm $17.5K 117KMs aftermarket cushioned-leather centre console clear rear wind deflector AC Schnizter gear knob. Electric folding soft-top is in really good condition.
  13. Hi, Just from one to the other minute the dasboard light of my gearbox flicked on. I had to drive in limp mode 30km further to home. At home I was able to log in with Inpa, and Inpa told me that there was a problem with the pressure regulator solenoid valve. Normally I fix stuff myself, but at the moment I just don't have the time for it. So I brought the Z to a transmission specialist, and he had a look at it. He opened up the pan and found metal dust and swarf inside. The metal parts had shorted out the solenoid valve, hence the message on Inpa. He told me that that a overhaul would cost at least $4000 plus GST. I had to think that over... The next day my son spoke to our neighbour (BMW fanatic) who was at a local garage that morning asking for a quote for an auto to manual conversion for his E36. The garage said to him that it would cost probably around $3000. That brought me also on the same idea, why not a conversion? The garage said that the conversion of the Z cost probably a bit more. So the latest week I am browsing the net about conversions to manual. The garage who wants to do it for me rather have me sorting out the parts than him. He says that is cheaper to do. I am doubting between an E46 six speed box or an E36 5 speed. If I converse to 6 speed I can keep my LSD 4.44 and have normal rpm. Later I can go to 3.46 and have a nice cruise rpm. If I choose for a normal 5 speed, I have to change my diff to a 3.46 anyway. Any recommendations here? My garage gave me two addresses for parts. He pointed me to HellBM and SDEuropean. HellBM mailed back that they only do inhouse conversions and don't sell conversion sets. I haven't heard form SDEuropean yet (weekend) I saw some traders on tardme selling conversion sets. One trader is offering a set for $1250, which looks reasonable to me. But when I asked for a E46 six speed it is $3k for the gearbox only. What kind of prices are these 6 speed boxes. What can I expect? Are there other (reliable) sources where I can get my parts, prefered conversion sets? Any thoughts about this?
  14. I had the opportunity to buy a pile of repair manuals recently in bulk and ended up with one of these. Anyone keen? Say $30+shipping? ***This is sold now.***
  15. Hi folks. New peasant here. I have a 1998 E46 which I enjoy more every time I look at it, and a recently-acquired E90, which is growing on me. Already the forum has been helpful, by giving me the clues to re-program the E90's Japan-spec radio. Must admit that I hadn't been listening to much radio for a while, but now that we've got some cricket underway, there is hope. I've also just read the Rules - apparently photos are compulsory - oops, I must redeem myself - standby. Cheers Andrew
  16. Hit with the ugly stick! have you ever seen a worse shopping trolley handle, ever? On a Z3? It's interesting; US built (Spartanburg plant), ex-Japan, LHD, metric gauges. Looks pretty tidy, to be fair. 80k kms. Did I mention the interior? An interesting blend (clash) of faux-walnut and plum leather. It was the 90's, after all. The Foo Fighters had just dropped their debut album the year before, we were wrapped in Britpop and Cool Britain, you could press your nose against the glass of the McLaren showroom in West London and marvel at the F1. Bill Clinton had been re-elected and there was an air of positivity in the US Economy; a whitehouse intern oddly elected not to dry-clean her dress. The e39 debuted in UK, seems light-years ahead of the five it replaces. Plaid shirts were in. Cigars were smoked in bars throughout North America. And this Z3 exited the Spartanburg assembly line, exactly 5 years before planes hit the twin towers in NYC. This really needs rescuing to make into a track car, really. with an S52 or something. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1234808191.htm
  17. Just a quickie, does anybody know the part number for the z3 2.7 turns steering rack?? Cheers Ace
