how to undo the topnut on struts?

to take the springs out of struts? had the spring compressed ready to take out, but dont have the tool to stop the shock from turning around?

In order to get tophat off??

the shocks just turn with it though?? i tried an impact wrench?

pipe wrench on the shock to stop it turning. v rangi. air wrench usually works

Ive tried vice grips haf, but they still turned! may have to resort to paying a suspension place to do it..

2 ppl maybe?? vice grip for one person, and awkwardly undo the nut with the other person lol, dont pay hard earned cash for something you outta be doin yourself ;) got the ol crc on the nut?

tried too, friend of mine conveniently turned up whilst trying! and crc'd but it look perfect under the cap anyway like to all dirt and rusted..

vice grips arent a pipe wrench..read the instructions. if you must take the struts down to a garage ya friendly with and get them to rattle gun them off. if your springs are low which they look like they are you shouldnt need compressors

got it, hammer with socket in and with one good knock it comes loose

haha first was the C arm steering was easy, then the other side complete opposite! My 13mm socket is sitting on the fuse box on your parts car , care to grab it sometime?? or ill pick it up from your work or whatever

I should be over there tommorow night - I'll pick it up for you then.

Ball joint separators are crap.. If you had done it that way say good-bye to the dustcap seal.. Hammer rocks.

You should have undun those top nuts while the cars weight is still on them. alot easier.

When im taking out the shocks, those two nuts are the first nuts i LOOSEN before doing anything else.
