a few questions about electrics

Recommended Posts

1) My fog lights don't work. the rear ones work but not the front ones. I press the right switch, not even the green light lights up on the dash.

2) where the auto shift lever is located, those lights don't light up either e.g. 'P,R,N,D,3,2,1' does not light up.

3) where the headlight knob is, is it meant to be lighted? also, where the switches for the foglights are located, theres a red plastic strip, is it meant to be lighted as well?

anyone know a good sparky in auckland?

(1) Fuse,Relay or switch faulty

(2) Should just be a bulb

(3) I'm pretty sure the answer is no or mines knackered too ....Will will know he has more E30 experience

I can recommend Blair Woodhead (Woodhead Electrical) in Panmure Ph. 5704540

Cheers

Glenn

There is a globe behind the light switch which should come on when you turn the ignition on. It is a small push in one like the one that should be under the gearlever.

Foglamps use fuses 29, 30 and relay K8. K8 needs to be a double pole relay and is normally black in colour. Maybe the green globe is blown also??

Top right, ciggy lighter

bottom right, this disables all the electric windows and acts as an overload too.

left one(small square one), disables the rear windows only

Yes, there is a small globe behind the panel that will illuminate when you turn the ignition on.

whats this light for in the dash?

Brake pad warning light, tells you your pads are low (as long as you still have the sensors on the wheels, some people bypass them as they are too cheap to replace the sensor when it is damaged by running the pads too low).

Enjoy it, looks good with all the toys including the OBC and cruise control.

Yes, there is a small globe that is attached to the gear lever to show you what gear you have selected, see pic..
