Thought I would start a wee poll and then compare it to the actual result in November.

Also, if you are feeling brave enough, discuss how you have made your choice.

Vote National, based on nothing but their Billboards are less ugly than Labours Clayton Cosgrove signs at every other corner......

No Really, I don't like Labours Socialism way of running the country, but then again everything i have seen in the past year has convinced me there is no good choice of vote because politics is still politics

So I will vote national mainly because my family has traditionals been a national party & I do like John Key's no Bulls##t approach.

But as I'm a first time voter its very difficult to know whats going on and what choice to make, therefore I am totally open to positive and negative views on my personal choice

I'm sick of Helen, I'm sick of her screwing people over, I'm sick of dealing with people who have been screwed over by her, I'm sick of seeing her, hearing her, she repulses me, If I could get away with killing her I would, she has driven people around me to insanity and it is wearing off on me, I can't deal with it or her.

GO NATIONAL, he will be a breath of fresh air. I will party like I've never partied before if John gets in.

I've always believed govts shouldnt be able to do more than 2 terms-they seem to develop a very dangerous arrogance & lose touch with the real world(if they were ever in touch).Until a few weeks ago I was definitely of the opinion that labour needed to go(given they've already been in 1 term too long).

Now however,with the financial crisis,I wonder if National has the financial experience to guide the country thro the next few years -I dont think so.

So perhaps we need to trade off Labours BS social,nanny state policies for financial experience-they at least have that & at the end of day without a strong financial base we are f**kd.

You need 'unsure' as an option. Cant really make a decision when the majority of the parties have not really announced any of their policies yet.

I take nothing I hear from politicians at election time at face value. The problem is choosing the least offensive version IMO.

It's shocking to see how many people don't have clue, one of friends who has already voted said in the last election she voted for two parties , I had to explain to her that one of them was for our local MP.

At the moment I'm saying ACT, as I don't think National will get in by themselves, so I'm voting for who I want them to be in coalition with. And I think the countries to PC.

Also don't see why you don't think John Key couldn't handle the current financial position, given his history, and why Labour can, given they put us here.

Toss up between the big two, none of the smaller parties really do it for me. Pretty sick of uncle Helen, though they haven't really done a bad job, and I've got my interest free loan. But National's tax cuts that we can't really afford dont sit to well with me either. Will wait until most of the policies are out there.

just like obama, national's change for the sake of change policy is wearing a little thin. I'd say when the books were opened yesterday may have been the tipping point for many kiwis.

That said, I'll be voting national again.

I am lucky enough to have Rodney Hide as my MP and will be voting for him again.

My party vote will definitely NOT be LABOUR, after 9 years they have managed to leave this country worse off than when they first came to power.

We really have become a welfare state, it still amazes me that a lady I know who has 2 kids can take home $1300 a week by working less than 20 hours a week AND claiming working for families AND some other form of benefit, whereas I work hard for 45 hours a week and get nowhere near that amount AND I PAY MY TAXES to support her!!!

If Labour do somehow manage to con the masses and get back in again, I have told the wife we are moving to Australia.

I laugh at people that see National as the great solution to everything. During this economic climate, I think the last thing we need is to elect a money-shuffler to run the country. Tax-Cuts anyone? What would be better is pouring more money into healthcare and education - opening up ACC has to be the worst possible idea so far. Insurance companies run like a business, and will employ doctors to critically analyse the injured and sick to make sure they don't get paid out. And yes, I have met John Key, and I think he's an arrogant pick.

Don't even get me started on Acts policies. Privatising schools and prisons? What could be more stupid?

I'll vote Labour again. Really the lesser of two evils (so to speak).

It really doesn't matter to me anyway, I won't be here to worry about what National will do when they win (which they will easily I suspect). I even have to vote early, as I won't be here come election day.

In my electorate, I know very little about any of the candidates, so will do a quick bot of research before I decide on the Candidate I will vote for.

If Sue Bradford and Russell Norman weren't in the Green's I'd vote for them. I can't bring myself to vote for a party that has either of them in.

If i bother voting at all i'll probably vote labour... so when i nearly kill myself doing something stupid all those taxpayers out there can foot the bill.... and they did bring my interest free student loan... but then national reckons they'll pay 10%.... not keen on massive taxcuts tho... all they ever do is make the rich richer, to me its about $1 a week since im so underpaid anyway

Not so much lately but IMHO the previous years have been pretty good, economy was growing pretty well, unemployment is also damn low. Hard to say how much of that is Labour's doing or just them piggy-backing on the rest of the world. They came through on a number of their promises. We all here stories about people ripping off the benefits but I also know a few people who they have really helped.

I also think national will win, and I'm not too worried about it. I'm just trying to decide whether it will be a good thing if they can get 50% by themselves or whether we'd be better off with another coalition

Dont get me wrong-I'm no labour fan but John Keys was a trader-he has little ,if any, experience of international finance as it relates to running a country's finances & he has no political experience whatsoever & like it or not this experience is vital!

And Labour have not put us in this position-the international credit market collapse has!

Have you forgotten that NZ has enjoyed the most buoyant economy in decades over the last 7 or so years.
