E30-323ti Update...

Recommended Posts

With all these build threads & updates on the go, I thought it best to add my 2c in as well.

With having the E30 on & off the road for the last 6yrs, thankfully without any failures as such, I always felt it needed something else.

Well over X-mas, with a new addition to the family I had a bit of time on my hands and an angle grinder waiting for a good time.

The goal is to be a fun track / clubmans race car.

The mods meet the OSCA rules (Namely: max. 305mm firewall setback & No.1 cylinder no more than 5% of the wheel base behind the front axle), should I get the itch to take things up a notch (and find some $$$).

As you will see, there is a long way to go yet....

I'll let the pics take it from here:

Pulled out the engine & gbox and sat one of the rear sump pans I had in the bay.

Then took to the firewall with the angle grinder.

That is so sweet, exactly what the E30 needs. Would love to see what changes in weight distro that makes after you are done. Goooood luck

I remember reading up on this when I first joined so good to see it's still on the go.

And +1 on the v-mount

Yeah, I didn't give it much attention while it was going, too much fun driving it.

It has had a few more changes since I took Andrew & Gus out a couple of years back.

And will be quite different again next time around

Brakes are well sorted, made sure of that a couple of phases ago LOL

What about the pedal arrangement, master cylinder etc.

Obviously no room for a brake bar any more.

Will be watching this closely!

So how much 'e30' is going to be left after this phase glenn? :P

Funnily enough, it should hopefully look a bit more E30 when it's done this time.

From the outside that is...

I love you Glenn :D

LOVE the coilover rear setup

Geez thanks Sam, you made me blush

The rear coilovers where done in '06 iirc, they work pretty well.

Took a bit of maths to get the tender/main combo.

Digging my own thread

No pics sorry.

Got the manifold for the new turbo all welded up, finally.

Engine Mounts and Gearbox cross-member / mounts all fab'd up and in place.

Ordered a bunch of parts to do the exhaust downpipe / Wastegate, much easier with no firewall.

Have a lovely Tilton Floor Mounted Pedal Box & MC's sitting in the cupboard, for when the firewall gets closed in.
