True, but my stock 540i E34 Automatic was quicker than that.

Better gearing I guess.

I knew of Cain's old Calypso 540 LE as well.

Cains old Calypso unfortunately was crashed beyond repair. The parts went to a good home however, Ross and BM workshops mint e34 540i.

Hi

New to this forum. Did one of those inane web searches for my chassis number when online using the Real OEM site to search for a part and came up with this discussion.

Thought I'd join up a I have owned e34 540i/6 BK35169 since 08.2006.

Cosmosschwartz metallic, leder bison/ schwartz, ASC, M sport sus, etc.

I love this car. An ongoing project and a keeper. Inside very tidy, outside some paint required but presentable. Mechanically very thoroughly maintained.

It's just turned over 200K km with ease

Keen to share knowledge and parts info on this car with other owners

Ashley

Wellington

MMMMMMMMM.... I tried desperately to get the Mrs keen on an E34 540i/6... She doesn't like them and doesn't "need" a V8. Who NEEDS a V8! It's a WANT!

Anyway... had to settle for a E39 525i - at least it's manual though!

Awesome car dude! keep it well looks after!

Found the 17,000km unicorn:

Shame... it's done nearly 20K now. Does that mean it's just a horse? :P

Hi guys,

So out of curiosity, does anybody know much about this car? Fascinated to know how a car like this ended up with Ferrari / Lambo type mileage (for its age). Extraordinary.

You'd think logically that a practical, versatile car like that would end up clocking decent mileage even if it was in a car collection.

These were evidently like $150k new in NZ.

Fascinating question - what would it be worth today?

Well it is red like a Ferrari, maybe the owner thinks it is one??

It is amazing alright, my car is only 6 months old and already has 20,000km on it, you don't buy a drivers car and not drive it, I feel sorry for the poor old thing, would be interested to get it on a dyno and see what it is making.

I think Simon's purple people eater 540 had silly millage on it and still drove like clockwork.

The gods were on my side for once, and finally picked up one of the 96's hellrot red 540IS on the weekend (not the unicorn, but I aint complaining). Great to find out it came with the M PACK! Car just needs a re spray, which will be done over the next month or two. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, the feeling of owning a E34 540IS, something to treasure for a life time.

Was slightly confused by the $5000 advertised price and the fact that it went for over $8000.  Was it an Auction?  Or just Facebook where anything goes?  Still a great deal if you can tidy it up.
