5L v10 10,000rpm

all sorts of dribble.

but maybe not e30 friendly

might pay to have a look at the e36 on youtube then read what you just wrote, its always others that believe these things cant be done till some does it then they eat their words.

from one of my usa customers i can buy a used IRL motor for under 10k <_<

Ha ha Glenn time to come clean on one of those projects

Project thread and photos to come when time allows

For now the edited highlights of what I feel is the ultimate 10K E30 motor

Cars is 1986 Tech 1 M325i

Motor M54B30 done 5K yes 5,000kms standard bar Oil pump upgrade and sump

Link G4 extreme with sequential injection and electronic throttle and most factory sensors.

Custom equal length headers as in the pic above.

Twin 2 ¼†custom exhaust into flow master twin in twin out back box.

ZF310 E36 M3 gearbox and up rated clutch with custom flywheel.

Tricked up LSD (haven’t settled on final ratio still testing)

Koni adjustable suspension all round

As for performance… Revving to just 6,500 the motor produces twice the power of my series car and the torque is massive :D

We have had the car out to Manfeild twice. Once in the dry for a shake down and once racing in the wet where it proved to quite the straight line weapon putting car lengths on various V8 race cars.

Driving the car on the street (yes still road legal) is like driving grandma's 316 :o until you give it half throttle then all hell breaks loose. The e throttle and link allows for the fine tuning that a cable throttle can't. :D

Now you know why I’ve been so quite on here…

Thats just one the projects on the go more to come

Out of interest - M5x EWS, etc, etc issues are by-passed with an aftermarket ECU? Because at $1600ish dollars a pop - G4 Storm is superb value for money.

M52 EWS issues are not a problem if you get the right motor, wire it up correctly and use the right DME, EWS and chip key set. And I'm not going there again... been there done that... and can still do it... but I'll keep that to myself at the moment after last time.

I've always loved the sound of Subarus so a EJ20T/TT or if a EJ257 was available i'd stick that in...though seeing as i already have an S50 I would definitely put that in!!

Superb value yes, but budget on quite a bit more to get it running and tuned properly. Maybe 2 or 3 times as much. Edited by Silver Fox

#14 awesome project

Thanks, not my car. Built for friend/sponsor after I killed his M20 2.7 on the track. After doing maths std M54 3.0 power was more economic than building M20 3.0 to the same HP.

3S-GE

or

4-AGE 20v with lumpy cams/exhaust/ITB

or

F20c

or

Lexus V8

or

S50b32 (no idea how much these cost, Hybrid?)

Basically any high revving strung out, preferably light, N/A engine.

Alfa V6 would be so amazing. I highly doubt this could be done for anything near 10k though. The sound would be  .

+2 on M50/52 turbo or M30b35 turbo. Keep it BMW ;) (I'd say the same for any make).

edit: Fun topic BTW

Guest E302.7T

2jzgte would be nice with the getrag but I like things kept original in theme so I'd say a m3 e36 motor :D lol or turbed forged internal 2.7i

S50b32 (no idea how much these cost, Hybrid?)

8-12 depending on condition and extras. The problem is they are rare and in high demand, hence the price has got up on them over the last year.

To buy the parts new for them is insane (head / cranks etc etc)

You know, I would be interested to see someone buy a m44 and string the crap out of it with the 7 odd k worth of fancy internals and ITBs. I would actually think you would have yourself a light weight high reving NA beast.

There's a M42 getting this done to it for the race series for this season, ITB's and all.

Not quite, but some serious cash is being thrown at it, $25k plus I believe.

should be a good handling car with that engine in it and if they do what I think their doing to it.

run it on a m800 or sq6m pectel and drive the extra injectors with slide plate throttle bodys and it would honk.

Lots of interesting stuff you learn from austrian hill climb cars.. lightened rotating mass / high compression and bucket loads of fuel and air.

A certain person we all know is looking at 380hp from his DTM m3
