What'd you do to your BMW today?

Recommended Posts

Managed the "grand slam" over the week-end, got to drive all of my Bimmers, a very rare feat as they are hardly ever all running / legal at the same time. F30 company car - poodling about town, etc. Took the wife's E46 wagon to tow the E30 race car to Hampton Downs and back, then pulled the E30 'vert out of the garage to blow the cobwebs out as it was such a nice day on Sunday.

Overall quite happy, a few little niggles to look at, but nothing too major.

Washed the e46 and I'm currently in the middle of swapping the e28 fuel filter and putting the exhaust back on.

As you can see it was definitely due for a change.

Yesterday, listed the E30 on trademe ?

It's sad to be selling it, but it's to open the door for better opportunities ?

Busy readying my replacement N54 longblock. Shiny new turbos bolted up today. I'd really hate to do that job with the engine in situ. Not too far to go before I can shoehorn it all back into the E91 :-)

Got my E39 running again thanks to Gabe79, new keys coded and fired right back up.

Then proceeded to drive E39 to workshop to replace the pair of front thrust arms, PITA job btw. Slight shimmy at 80kph now gone.

WoF tomorrow.

Purchased a 325 for $200 as a parts donor for the race car. Turns out it has some sweet Chinese adjutables in it and once had the number plate HOTBOY
Pretty swinging beast...
Has an aquamarine leather interior to replace my 316 aquamarine cloth

I now have 5 e36s, someone please help.

I attempted to connect to my e39 on INPA with a k+dcan cable but I think I have done the set up wrong.

Took the E28 for a WOF, flew through (once they figured out how to open the bonnet). Promptly took it for a drive and couldn't help but take a couple of photos.

BMW through Schmiedmann, price was pretty good with a trade discount.

I did, Olaf nailed it - not a lot of space when removing the 4 critical nuts/bolts, steering rack & sway bar in the way. Ball joint nut directly under strut...etc

In other news, E39 EWS issues so the car doesn't want to start...DME being sent to Ray today for some magic.

Aren't you glad you have those shinny new keys that don't work? ;)

New engine cover cap, new wiper blades and new wingnut holding a no-longer-squeaking jack in place in the boot. :)

M5 radiator out - what a mess - 13 years of accumulated bugs and dirt... it was the original radiator so it's done well... tomorrow the front of the engine starts coming apart for clean and new thermostat, oil hoses, etc...  It's had 13 years of badly aimed oil top ups by the looks...

This all points to you wanting to give the Gentle Annie TT another crack... :D

Lots of cleaning tonight on the S62, replaced the thermostat, sensors, belts, oil ventilation hoses, gaskets, O-rings, etc. etc.  Now all boxed up waiting for the new radiator to arrive...
