What'd you do to your BMW today?

Recommended Posts

A mate found it. Only need the 3.64 crownwheel and pinion from it. And the stereo will fit my x5 and replace the "chinavin" head unit :)

In fairness the lhs has some pretty interesting dents

I'll have a n m54b25 for sale soon ?

After new rear control arms, spring pads and bump stops this week. I was finally able to complete the installation of my refurbished rear deck and new child seat anchors.

Everything went back together so nicely.

Only Slight trouble had was with getting the rear deck in with the new brackets in place it needed a bit of extra finessed encouragement part way through sliding it in to place  to clear them.

Filled a few more fibreglass holes, sanded filler, opened up a few more holes, which I filled then sanded.... repeat ad nauseum.

Now trying to convince my inner perfectionist that this is supposed to be a RACE car, and not a SHOW car and to stop trying to produce an A-Class surface finish out of cheap FRP panels. Need to win this argument soon, for the sake of my sanity!

I think most of us run a variable mixture of love/hate with these vehicles! ?

I spent far too much time and money just fixing the previous owners f**kups. Would've been fine if he had been honest about the issues it had that I had to fix.

Yeah unfortunately morons tend to gravitate towards E36's.

He isn't completely wrong though. They are cheap and disposable RWD cars now, so too many have ended up in the hands of drongos.

Nothing offensive about it unless you misinterpret the comment. They are the goto BMW for that sort of crowd, RWD manual Japanese cars aren't very cheap anymore so im guessing they start looking at other options.

Always someone going to be offended about something so technically yes but it shouldn't be to anyone on here given its context as factual information.

Back on topic - I fitted some OEM fog light blanks, never seen an E39 IRL with them on. They work well with the black trim on PFL bumper to give a cleaner look.

I second this. Motion carried! Any other business...?

I drove mine for the first time in three weeks. Going to have to buy a trickle charger.

Get a Ctek or similar, will on demand charge and not destroy the battery

Removed all the heinous wood trims from the x5 to get them painted piano black. Will have to do the shifter surround also as that's silver. I don't know why it had the wood in there and the silver sport pack stuff all mixed up.

Black is good.

I disagree.  Well, I will grant that use of the term moron is somewhat offensive!

All sorts of exemplars of sub-species of humanity are gravitating towards e46 also.

In the Venn diagram of e46 (or e36ownership  the e46 (or e36) is not fully enveloped by any one - or all - sub-species of human ownership.

Thus, loving an e46 (or e36) does not lump one in amongst all other appreciators of these fine vehicles.  Eg just because I run an e46, does not mean I am a drift shredder.

Money well spent. Had a Ctek 5A for years, and never failed to do the job. A+ would trade again.

+1 for CTEK, mine totally rocks, bought my own after borrowing a mate's one a few times over the years.
