pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 it was always going to happen, but with the clause where by the owner of the copyright must make the complaint before an wanring can be issued and with technology such as ip scramblers i dont think enforcing it is going to be greatly acheivable. im sure like everything else of this nature there will be a million ways around it. Furthermore even if you do support copyright the government passing bills like this is rather outrageous especially as this one was rushed through under "Emergency Christchurch Earthquake Recovery Measures" We think this is wrong. There are alot of bills passed like this, just alot of them dont make the press. Its not a new thing. But from what ive read of the bill it doesnt look like its gunna be a big issue as its going to be pretty difficult to police, and without the complaint of the copyright owner no warnings can be given. IMO people are just jumping up and down because they heard the words file sharing and ilegal in one sentence but havent really looked into the bill that well. simke 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) The main problem is that now you are assumed guilty until you can prove otherwise. So if you get accused of downloading copyrighted material, it is you that needs to prove your innocence, not the other way around where they have to prove that you are guilty. Say if I connect to your network, and then download copyrighted content, then it is YOU that has to prove that you are not guilty - since they go after the ISP account holder. If there was a case of injustice and your service was disconnected you could take the issue to a small claims court if it could not be solved between you and your isp and the it would still stand. pureboiracer 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 (edited) yes but unless the matter reaches the courts "innocent until proven guilty doesnt apply" this is the same with a lot of things. what im trying to say is your right to be "innocent until proven otherwise" isnt really taken away as it does not extend to issues between you and your isp. Ive heard about VPN subscriptions from places with ethical internet and comms laws, I.E, Sweden, Iceland etc. Just havent looked into yet. Whats the best and easiest way? A seedbox is a another machine in a country where riaa cant do sh*t. You use this machine to download your torrents, you then download them to your machine from there via SFTP / SSH what ever you want. The seed box usually has a 100mbit or 1gbit connection, and are best when used with a private tracker (where other people are using seedboxes). dubman 39 Report post Posted April 15, 2011 Seedbox is something you hire. It is basically a computer overseas which you use to do your downloading. You remotely load a torrent onto a URL interface that is similar to a torrent program. The seedbox will upload and download at its maximum capabilities. Then after the torrent has finished downloading, you can download as fast as you can off the seedbox. Load Torrent to seedbox -> Seedbox downloads file -> You download off seedbox to your computer The seedbox servers get heaps of complaints from companies, but it doesnt affect you.
