How Many KM's has your car done?

Recommended Posts

Thought this would make for an interesting post:

Make and Model: E39 523i A SE

Issues during ownership: Radiator / Thermostat & Housing at 240,000, Shocks at 300,000, Starter, Cat Failed,

Current Milage:339,500KM

Mods: M5 subwoofer and amp under rear parcel tray. Business CD upgrade. Motorsport Suspention Package.

17" Staggered Fitment Motorsport Alloys. Cree LED angel eye bulbs.

Dice bluetooth kit. Valentine One hard wired. Hella HID retrofit kit. Euro Plates.

Work Required: Fitment of HID kit. (I have been hunting for this kit for a long time. I have hella lights with odd ball bulb adapters), Top hose has buldged, apart from that its magic. No leaks.

I'm also going to add that it has never had any suspension arms replaced. It still has its original upper arms in the rear.

I can only put this down to open road driving?

I am the second owner. Kiwi New.

Look forward to seeing your replies

July 2011 Megane RS250 = 29,000km now. No issues other than it being on its third set of tyres very shortly, but that's a driver fault.

2006 Megane F1.R = 120,000km. Driven very hard. Only real fault was a bolt coming loose and breaking my flywheel, this was caused by poor workmanship from when I had the gearbox out to have the LSD installed. Overall very impressed with the reliability and durability of this car, it gets driven harder than your car and it loves it. So much for the stereotype.

1999 BMW 328ci. 135,000km. problem outside of servicing was the control arm bushes. Other than that it has been the most reliable car we have ever had! Up yours whoever coined them BW-Troubleyou?

I know <_<

The car doesn't really need to slow down for corners, you can go into most bends without slowing and if you do slow you can mash the gas on the apex and the LSD drags it out, its a lot of fun and very good at getting

along fast on back roads but it is getting very expensive at an average cost of $550 per tyre ($5500 a year) so I will be backing off on the corners on the next set as its becoming rather expensive... especially when you are buying two sets a year for the Targa car.

Looking at some alternative tyres with a higher tread wear rating also as a lot of the latest gen tyres are as soft as some semi slicks. Good Year Asymmetric II have a 300 rating and still perform well so will be hunting out a deal on them.
