just picked up possibly my new work wagon

Recommended Posts

small update , picked up the car , been driving it around for the last 2-3 days etc

seems to go well , need to fill it up with super as my bro borrowed it a while back and filled it with 91 so a little down on power

also need to sort out a proper exhaust setup , and maybe a remap etc ,

i do have a spare v8 ecu and remapped chip from the last car so might try that out on a dyno run to compare etc

but it has returned about 11.3l/100km driving around town etc , which is not too bad. done about 200km so far

played around with the clutch setup ,

removed the clutch pedal helper spring so the pedal doesn't feel so light and stick down etc

have made up a higher clutch pedal stop, as the pedal does not need to go all the way to the floor

clutch is working ok , just does not have much feel to when its starting to bite etc ,

so lots of stalling etc .

but with a bit of use seems to be better etc

2000rpm at 100km/h in 6th gear .

maybe should have fitted a 3.46 diff instead of the 3.15

also now the front of the car sits even higher so need to sott some shocks and springs out etc

quick update , picked up the car from gavin after dyno tunning and camshaft setting etc .

need to do the exhaust system soon , its a bit restrictive .

have a e34 m5 centre section to go in and a cheap S/S power pro rear muffler and then either some coby hot dogs to go up front or just pipe.

a bit less power than my other e34 554i i did but there is room for improvement.

but that had a pretty free flow exhaust lighter flywheel and dyno was run in 5th gear

this car has std exhaust and dyno was run in 4th other its too fast for the rollers etc .

same diff ratio's etc

but nice to drive good smooth power and torque delivery and nice with the 6spd at 100km/h at about 2000rpm etc

i used to own a nz new 99 e39 540i touring ,front floated like a boat and kicked in the rear like a goat.

i dont like the way the airbag suspension works.

one of the reasons i sold it.

e34 is a much nicer more involving ride , as long as you sort all the worn out bits etc

New rear subframe bushes made a BIG difference, and the shocks were all poked!! On its way to being pretty good now!:)

only 228 HP,it that put out from a M62B44?standard 286HP.

thats rear wheel horse power not flywheel HP

and there is some more hidding in there after some exhaust mods :)

std e34 540i auto put down about 150kw at the wheels

actually see here for some rwkw numbers from a recent dyno day

yea i know , gotta fix this e34 touring up now , looking at 4 new shocks and lowered springs ,

its floaty in the front and bounces in the rear , self leveling not so good :(
