So after stripping 3rd gear in the getrag 240 at taupo at dual sprints earlier this year I picked up a getrag 260 from will on here.

It is a older one and so does not have the mounts for the newer style shifter carrier / arm thing. I made up some brackets to hold it but in the end I didnt like it and so I decided to mount the shifter AKG styles - but made my own.

It takes the original shift lever and ball cup. I plan on putting a new ball cup in it and changing to the Z3 shifter and then make a shift linkage to suit. If I did it again I'd do it a bit differently but this is something I made up as I went and made last night.

It bolts up from underneath the car, I didnt like how the AKG one mounted.

Long time, no update. A lot has changed on the car how ever. I see tinypic has conveniently disposed of most the photos.

Pulled the M50 out as it dropped compression in cyl 6, down to about 90 psi due to corrosion of the bore, must of been sitting with coolant in it after been parked up for a long time. I suspect it might of got a bit hot during a drunken hamilton style burnout then parked up and the cylinder filled up with coolant potentially, that was the last time it was driven for maybe a year so would of been sitting like that for awhile.

Replaced it with an M52B28, tidied it up with new gaskets and ARP head studs. 6 point roll cage, tig welded, and rear strut towers reinforced. Left it NA for a bit and drifted it like that...

Reinstalled the old turbo setup the from the M50 on to the M52. New intake manifold. Made a new wiring loom, quick disconnect firewall connector, DR25 etc etc. New fuel setup, removed the stock fuel tank to make room for side exit exhaust. Fuel cell and surge tank in the boot, had terrible fuel starvation problems when approaching half tank with the standard setup. Still running the DTA S80 ECU.

Have been running it on E85. But have also installed a water meth kit for when E85 is unavailable so can run regular pump gas or ethanol, mix it with castor oil for extra smell factor.

Extended control arms in the front and SLR lock kit. In the rear have converted to true coil over setup, trailing arm bushings removed and changed to monoball bearings along with camber and toe adjusters. Trailing arms reinforced. Front and rear converted to 5 stud.

Exhaust is 3", basically straight through with the longest resonator I could fit.

17x8 and 17x9 BBS wheels.

Still a lot to do. Photos in no particular order, including some older ones that have gone missing from tiny pic. Will get some proper updated pics once I get back out to the car.

Plastic flares are temporary until I decide to either build or buy some m3 style flares.. Dont really like the tablet style dash anymore, so will revert back to standard E30 style, and try find some interior parts to put back in.. Kind of regret stripping it out so much and cutting it up so much.

Wow, loving the welding on that cage.  Is that your handiwork, @polley?

Lachssilber FTW!

Seriously cool build man, keen to see more.

A friend and me did the cage, actually he did most the work and I assisted. He has done a few cages before, and has a lot more patience than me with such fiddly things.

Easy to use and cheap. Wouldn't hesitate to use again

Things are getting exciting again. Plan is to reverse some of the things I did when it was a dedicated track car and to get it back on the road.

1. Found all the old pics on an old HDD so I can fix the thread of broken images and tidy it up.

2. Lots of changes havent really kept up to date with.

3. New engine almost ready.

17x9 ET35. They are 5x113 though, so there is an adaptor in there that adds 25mm or so.

What's gone into the engine build? And what power are you expecting out of it?

M50 Iron block

M52B28 crank

Forged rods

Forged pistons 8.8:1 CR

ARP head studs, rod bolts etc.

Cooper ring HG

Valve springs etc upgraded

Few other bits and pieces but thats the basics of it. Power, well that will be decided by the size of the turbo and injectors which is currently a HX35 and 660cc/min. Which Ill probably run for a bit as the downpipe and everything is already made to suit. I'll upgrade it later once I have to the time or patience to make a new down pipe for a bigger turbo. So in saying that I am probably limited to about 550hp for now or so.

No real power goals in mind though, it'll make what it makes and no doubt it will see a few more changes on the way.

The DTA does not come with any way to mount it, always just been zippy tied in. Made up these 38mm roll cage mounts, most likely mount it to the under dash bar.
