VIN says it has Msport suspension and sports seats, nothing about M Aero.

My guess it was optioned with a few MSport options (seats, Suspension, alloys)

guess the non m sport bumper gives it away also..

he did say it had m suspension and couldnt confirm it was an actually m sport

how is it for price?

he works at bmw he said when he bought the vehicle he did a pre purchase and fixed any niggly bits that came up

Seems like a fair deal.

Only thing I don't like is that its an import one, which means it'll have that rough changing Jatco autobox.

Id check to make sure it actually has sport shocks not some inferior ones as originals may have been replaced at those km. A good drive will usually tell you if you what good shocks should feel like.

The one your looking at

Its got the Seats and Suspension, doesn't really matter about the other bits.

As long as its been looked after it should be ok, its got a good chance of being decent with the current owner. Checkout the condition of the plastic cooling system parts such as the Thermostat housing and pipes etc, if its gone a brown colour that means its time to be replaced. (The Plastic Parts)

For some reason every E36 I've had needed a new Thermostat and ran cool..

As mentioned, definately check for the jatco jerk. Mine was a big thump (and holding gear for longer than normal) changing from first to second gear and was worse at high rpm/throttle. It got to the point i couldnt trust it to get me across a busy intersection, so had to convert to manual.

A thump is not normal. I thought nothing of it when i test drove the car.

If you are talking about FLY 11 I would agree , it looks like a tidy genuine car owned by someone who values it and with the right bits on it including the style 24 wheels.

Question on the wheels are they 7.5 by 17 all round or staggered 7.5 fronts and 8.5 rears , this would be the perfect setup with M sport suspension.

There is in fact no such thing as an M-sport model per se, just an extensive list of M-sport accessories.

As there are no engine enhancements the only improvements are handling:

My personal interpretation is , it needs at least full M-sport suspension options, sports seats and 17 inch M-Sport wheels & front & rear spoilers to legitimately claim to be an M-sport.

i agree with the latter points, the seats wheels and suspension are the bits that make the difference, the body kit is the "label" for others

As with most 3 series Id be looking out or budgeting for the rear bushes on the lower front arms needing replacing, the drive shaft coupler, clunking in the back over bumps will be rear shock mounts and if it takes awhile to heat up the Tstat will need replacing and upgrade to alloy housing (M50/M52) as 9/10 times youll crack the plastic one putting it back on and do the waterpump while your at it as they can shear the impeller off the shaft at old age. About $100 for pump, 80 for alloy housing and 40 odd I think for Tstat. shock mounts about $60 and bushes price depending on what you want, factory, M3 solid etc

Hi Byron,

I know the owner of FLY 11 well. He has worked on all of my BMW's over the years and is extremely meticulous and fussy when it comes to maintaining & working on cars

As I am living overseas at the moment I havn't actually seen this car but can only presume by previous cars he has owned that this wouldn't be any different.

Hope this helps..

How/where did you get the factory spec info? I've got a spec sheet like that from a BMW dealer before, but if you can point me elsewhere (on the Interweb?!) to where it could be independently obtained that would be really handy.

Thanks

Search in this forum for webetk and it comes up with the info on how to get it.

Cheers
