E92 M3 Progress Thread

Recommended Posts

Picked up this Silverstone II E92 M3 on 20/08/13.

It's an ex-UK, HP equivalent, manual.

Features to note are:

-Electronic Dampening Control

-Carbon Roof

-NZ Navigation (not that I use it but it's nice!)

-Individual Audio

-19" wheels

I've got a few things planned but no doubt the list will grow longer and longer.

I'm planning to keep this car a bit longer!

To do list:

-Euro Plate

-Beltronics RX75 hardwired

-OEM Exhaust mod

-Black hood vents, kidney grilles, side vents

-New tyres (Michelin PSS)

-Brake pads (F/R)

-Manual gearbox fluid

-Differential fluid

-Power steering fluid

-F10 M5 Illuminated Shift knob retrofit

-Carbon BMW Performance spoiler

-Carbon wing mirror covers

-Akrapovic Exhaust

-Tune

-Competition Pack Carbon Splitters

-BMW Performance Alcantara flat bottom steering wheel

-LED Interior light upgrade

-LCI Tail Light Upgrade

Sounds like fun. Then again I'm not sure you would need to do much to one of the best stock sports cars on the market though! :P

That said, can I buy your stock rear muffler when you don't need it anymore? :)

Very nice. What have you done with the E46?

Hi Julian, we agreed on a sale price with another BS member today. Looks like he'll take ownership of his new car Friday!

It sure is a blast to drive. After a chat with Hans, I can expect 20rwkw from exhaust work and another 20rwkw+-from the map too! I'll have to have a thorough chat with my insurer and warranty provider before doing anything like that though as the last thing I want is to void it!

With the exhaust, not sure when I'll be upgrading. They're pretty expensive! PM me an offer for the exhaust, if it comes close enough to contributing what I want to do for an upgrade I may accept :)

Lucky him/her! The E46 love affair didn't last long then, though I'm sure I'd drive an E92 M3 given half a chance!! Well done.

Definitely be careful with tune and exhaust mods - I've held back on certain mods on my 540i to avoid voiding warranty - at least until I'm reasonably confident nothing catastrophic's going to happen to the engine.

Great buy! Looks super tidy! Good to see you opted for 3 pedals biggrin.gif

I have an exhaust system for one of these sitting around at work

Bought it off Turner Motorsport early last year.

I cant get onto Turner Motorsport site at the moment as the page wont load but it is the same as the following:

Wasn't cheap but it is just sitting around gathering dust so I'm sure we could work something out?

It was a stunning machine. Absolutely incredible and thought it would be with me for a long time but at the price I got the E92 for it wasn't something I could walk away from. :)

Well done, looks great.

That Luma Ventless Carbon front lip looks lush.

A good friend has one of these cars and TBH I think the OEM exhaust sounds great on it when he opens it up on a back road.

OEM exhaust sounds great, but is a bit muffled (particularly inside the cabin) - Obviously this is subjective.

I will most likely just perform the OEM mod.

Yesterday I got to cleaning the leather - Not long before the rain turned on hard so I stopped.

Managed an initial clean of the steering wheel though.

Here is before:

And here is after:

It need another treatment to get the colours to pop more but it's quite a difference in person.

What are you using to clean the leather mate? Good job.

Thanks.

Here's what I did:

You need:

3 Buckets

2 Microfibre Towels

1 Box LUX soap flakes

Leather conditioner

1) Fill 1 bucket with warm/hot water (bearable on hands), other bucket with cold water (rinsing bucket), 3rd empty to wring used water into

2) In warm water put 3 scoops of soap flakes (mix well)

3) Use a Microfibre in the soapy water, wipe down the seats well, let it soak a bit (usually once you've done a whole seat its soaked in enough)

4) Wring the soapy dirty towel into the empty bucket, it'll have black filthy liquid

5) Cold water + micro fibre, rinse the seat down, and you can dry it with a third if you want

repeat for all seats, then condition the leather as it says on the bottle of your conditioner (it doesn't take much)

lol exactly what I thought, will be a nice addition though!

First thing I did when I got my E39 was thoroughly clean the leather haha once you find out how dirty it is, it's kind of gross thinking you were holding/sitting on someone elses filth.

Nice car BTW

Can't wait for the lip - Hopefully will get it by Xmas.

Re: Leather - I know. It gets filthy; hence steering wheel being first port of call.

Small cosmetic updates:

Vinyled (Plastidipped) the side gills, bonnet vents, kidney grills in black.

Planning to do the wheels and if I like the look will have GT Refinishers paint them.

Also had my RX75 hardwired by Ryan @ Autotech Installs yesterday and again, a top job.

When I can afford to I plan to get one of the new Escort Passports but that's another $2K(+-) so not in a hurry.

My Storm V1 gear knob is also in there and is an improvement over the OEM (IMO)

I've just ordered new spark plugs from Turner Motorsport ($300 cheaper than from Team McMillan :o )

They should be arriving soon and will go in straight away.

Have put some new oil in too (Castrol 10W60 of course)

Other than that a few more things have been added to the wish list:

-LCI (Life Cycle Impulse aka facelift) tail lights

-Proper gloss black grills, gills, vents

Any chance you'd sell on the stock knob?

Sorry mate, need to keep it in case I need to revert to stock for whatever reason.

Ahh most interesting :P

I wonder if this will cause it to drone at lower RPMs though..

Have you tested it?

Either way it will sound good with throttle!
