E36 M3 Targa Car Build

Recommended Posts

Very keen to see the new dyno run with the chip. Always wondered if they are actually worth it or not.

Just come back from the Dyno to test the results of the recent chip install.

The results are a FAIL, lost 10wkw!

I will point out that the 02 sensors have also been changed since the last dyno.

Disappointing, but better i know than be under some false belief.

I'll now fast track my plans for 'bolt on' engine mods. Cams, plenium etc, then do a custom map.

Will build a plan this side of xmas and look to implement around feb timeframes.

In the mean time i'm also ordering some weight loss goodies.

Have a look at aaron harris' 3.0 s50 ... then youll remove any silly notions of buying crate motors from the states.

I got a quote for a UK sourced S54 race motor, 450hp 3.4 stoker.

LOL ... If you do, make sure you have it in the contract that you get it for free if it doesn't make that HP ... Then just sit back and wait for your free motor to arrive.

Acquired some brand new axles at a clearance price, couldn't say no.

Will install and take the existing as a 'know good' spare set

Repair made to Nav foot rest after large 'guest' cracked it during entry

My first experience with fibre glass work. Quite easy in the end.

A couple of packages arrived from Germany today, as part of my weight loss program.

A clue, magnets don't stick to them.

GT doors?

If so, how much were they if you don't mind me asking?

yes, Alu GT(or optioned Evo) doors.

Off ebay.de

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E36-M3-GT-Alutur-Beifahrertur-Alu-Tur-in-Arktissilber-met-/281490037426?pt=DE_Autoteile&hash=item418a1d1ab2

The doors are not that expensive (Last years exchange rate helped), but the freight is a killer, I closed my eyes and wrote the cheque anyway :)

Separately also got an Evo Sump and some unique 3.0 spares from them like starter motor and power steering pump. Gave up trying to source this locally.

Roller dyno's arent really that accurate, you can easily see +-10kw between runs with tyres heating up and such things. And can be even further out if you do it months / weeks apart depending on who and how they strap the car down, too many variables to take a 10kw decrease too seriously.

Spoke to Gavin from Hi Velocity today. Have penciled a custom map in for next month' ish.

Just installed this extra wide accelerator pedal overlay. Also have the brake and clutch, but didn't bother installing.

Should make heal and toeing a little easier (have struggled in this car, yet have done it for years. Could be the different pedal travel due to brake kit, dunno).

Fingers crossed. Else i'm at risk from dangerous compression locking of the rears, tends to chuck you sideways when you least need it!

I found them on Ebay.de (in german).

Use the Chrome browser and use the translate to English feature (better than IE).

Email them, and they normally come back in english.

I'll cal also provide you these guys direct email if you like. What you after?

Get the listing number, then go to ebay.co.uk, and type it in the search. The listing will still be German, but the buttons are in england you can understand :D

Great, will be good to hear how those springs go.

Are you running OEM front sway bar or uprated?

I'm doing an M3 track car project currently so have been loving reading your project log :)
