E39 Touring to Ute Project

Recommended Posts

So I've landed this 528i se from Nelson. It arrived in Auckland today and is in pretty good condition for the project we have planned for it. Now I won't go into to much detail about the project, but all I can say is, from extended research, it will be a first for NZ. But as I upload the progress of the project, it will become more clear as to what the final product will look like, so stay tuned...

I'm guessing ute... Or why buy a non-sport wagon for the conversion? If it's an M5 wagon, I know someone else who might beat you to the punch, so yours will be 1 of 2 in NZ!

If you were going M5 touring you would want to start with a v8 surely! E39 ute would be all kinds of awesome, e39 M5 ute would be truly epic!!

Just putting it out there ;)

We'll it may be a S62 swap, or a worked M62, or a S38. We're also building another M52 with M50 intake and T61 turbo setup. Spent most of this morning ripping the interior out, alllllooooot of trim and bolts :)

Managed to stripe all the interior from the rear seats back. Have my auto sparky mate coming around tomorrow to help remove unwanted wiring...

Just requested shipping costs for these from a few suppliers overseas... If anyone knows if these are available from NZ, preferably not through a dealer, please let me know..
