E46 M3 Touring @ Hellbm

Recommended Posts

Time to update the concept touring with a major repower.

Out with the S54 and in goes a S65 with M-DCT.

Time for Quest fabrication to do their magic, especially with headers to be fabricated from scratch.

First photos show the S65 and DCT in place.

So far we have custom made engine mounts, gearbox mount and steering shaft.IMG_4288.JPGIMG_4294.JPGIMG_4298.JPG

Will be sticking with the E46 rack to cause as little disruption to the steering geometry as possible.

Exciting. Pleased to see this is going ahead.

This E46 chassis has become one of the most lucky chassis out there with the engines its been privileged to have under the hood!

Do the touring e46 chassis suffer the same issues with spot welds popping and floor cracks as the coupes and sedans?

We didn`t take any chances with this build and did the the rear subframe reinforcement as part of the M3 concept chassis/body build.

Finally some quieter time to focus on the wiring side of things. Working with a full E92 M3 car loom and all modules laid out.

Unravelling/depinning anything we decide that is not needed.

50% of the loom extracted and put into the not needed pile.

SRS,lighting, pdc, speaker, comfort access take up the larger volume of wiring.

Thanks to James for his hours put into unravelling the spaghetti.

Holy crap that looks daunting!

Good to see it being done properly though.

Any updates

Waiting for the headers to be made at the moment. Luckily there are plenty of other projects to be occupied with.

Change of plan with the drivetrain being reverted back to S54 at the request of the new owner.

Interesting conversion - manual to smg  along with brembo brake upgrade.
