Official Tools for Hire Thread

Recommended Posts

Not a hire item. If you're in need of a new set of spanners I got a teng 12pc set from mytools.co.nz for $45 delivered.

That's a pretty significant saving. Lifetime guarantee etc.

I like them too. Feel good in your hand like old school sidchrome.

Anyone have a modified 27mm wrench that I could borrow?

Needs a bit of meat taken off each side in order to be able to turn cam shafts without damaging the cylinder head.

Pic for reference :

Anyone have a crank holding tool for a M62 please.

8mm drill bit with some electrical tape wrapped around it worked well for me.

Thanks, I have a locking pin but wanted a proper holder and have just got one made. So I have the timing tool kit including the cam locks and a crank holder available for a small fee

Damn, wish I'd known about the cam locks earlier. Ah well

I've got a couple of basic things if anyone's desperate - the 14mm, 12 point, thin walled spark plug removal tool for the N54 (and maybe others?), plus the oil filter cover removal tool - 86mm, 16 sides. Might even have a 17mm socket specifically for the sump plug! In New Plymouth but happy to post to help a brother out.

Hi I'm trying to get my hands on wide band o2 sensor and a way to read error codes for my E30 M20B23. Have the pacman style plug.

I have DIS and INPA. They're on my only laptop so you'd have to do it at my place in Ellerslie if that helped?

i also have one of these for sale if you want something to use any time: http://www.bavariantechnic.com/modelfeaturematrix.aspx#e39

I need to borrow/rent a rear trailing arm bush tool for an e36/46. It needs to be the one that works with flanged bushes.

I've got INPA + cables, torque wrench, engine stand, spring compressors and a few other odd ball bits and pieces here, in Invercargill if anyone needs to borrow stuff down in the dirty south.

Just use the hammer method.

Big adjustable spanner on the fan nut, and then sharpley hit the end with a hammer. Just make sure to hit the nut clockwise as it is reverse threaded.

My adjusty isn't even long enough, hahaha.  Will grab a longer one tomorrow and try, cheers mate.

I wouldn't recommend using an adjustable crescent spanner for anything. But yes, get a proper (cheap) 32mm spanner and rubber mallet.
