Advice Needed

Recommended Posts

Hi ,

I noticed some months back a number of enthusiasts discussing the 540iM, E39 giving it very good wraps and urging the owner not to sell etc .

I unfortunately am about to sell my 2002 540i M E39 with just about 150K on the clock --its got all bells and whistles , new tyres , silver in colour etc ---any advice on what l should be looking at .

As l bought it from my parents l don't really have any idea of market views but l thought there would be a good body of opinion on the forum as to the target market and what you reckon l could look at --l will get around to listing properly this weekend but it needs a clean as l am doing a few trips back and forth to Hamilton at the moment .

Any views appreciated

Thanks

Andrew

Hi Andrew

I have a 540I Msport as well, sounds pretty similar spec. Mine had 160k on it when I purchased it back in Feb, is extremely tidy, NZ New, full service history, had all 4 new tyres, and a heap of preventative maintanence done to it before I purchased it (picked up in the pre purchase). I Paid 10k which is prob in the higher end of the market looking at what these go for, which is insane amount of car for the money. So anything around or below that seems to be the going market rate. Seems to mainly depend on whether its NZ New or import, whether it has a service history and overall looks and condition (apart from mechanically sound). Trademe will give you a good idea on something to compare yours too.

Despite lowish kms, people who want these cars are usually enthusiasts and know what to look for. As stated above, nz new or import and service history will determine value. Import and no history u r looking at around 7k realistic price and upto 10k for nz new good maintenance history.

Hope this helps. And definitely check trademe for indication of other owners' asking prices but dont hope for 15k or whatever cuz thats just plain silly

Hi

Thanks

NZ new-- bought by my parents and my mothers car( yes that's true) and l have had it from about 60k-- so l know it's complete history -- well maintained but l am not good with keeping the records-- so definitely not an import

Thanks again

Andrew

You should go take a few snaps all round it and inside, would give folk a better idea of what the likely value would be. Could even end up in a sale..
