Wheel cleaning, Non Acid vs. Acid, whats the diff?

Wondering what the difference in Non Acid vs. Acid wheels cleaners is. How do the different acidity levels affect the clean and the wheel, good or bad?

Is a sealant type of product required when using and acid based wheel cleaner?

I've always used non acid to date.

Acid based is not a good idea for painted wheels. Imo although it will cut off old baked on brake dust it will also strip away the paint. Wheel sealant is a good idea to make cleaning wheels easier.
