M5 E39 - completes my stable

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

New member here - long time Audi fan (and am still as my nick shows), but always admired the M class bimmers.

Just purchased a mint E39 M5 to complete my collection of:

1 - One of the worlds best (the best according to EVO mag) FWD driver's cars: Honda Integra Type R DC2 1996 (also have a rally car same model)

2 - the iconic Audi Turbo quattro Coupe - last of the breed, the 20V 1990 - one of only 3 imported new to NZ. the famous Ur quattro.

3 - arguably (especially on this forum I'm sure!) the most desirable and classic driving M5 - the E39. To me an M class car HAS to have a manual H pattern gearbox.

Also have a VW Amarok - car for all purposes except spirited driving!

Looking forward to my time on this forum.

Cheers

you are both wrong.

E34 ftw

E39 powered E28 would win though

Welcome Greg. I watched the previous owner of your M5 shed a tear as it was dropped off at the transporters today. Roll on 9.30pm and delivery........

Thanks for the welcome guys - very late here - picked up car off transporter then strangely got lost on way home............ Can't believe how agile and responsive this car is despite weighing in around 1800kg!

Will put up pics of M5 tomorrow, and by request the quattro and DC2 also. (not the race car - that's undergoing an engine transplant - K20A ftw in a dc2 chassis!)

Cheers

1996 (the original) DC2 Integra Type R low ks (80,000) long term keeper - despite what my service crew keep saying, it is NOT a donor car for the race car!!

Note that the ill-fitting bonnet has been replaced with a perfect one.

these are still soo cool.

I was seriously thinking about getting one about 4 years ago. It was 30k and in pretty mint condition. Black with a SS Super sprint exhaust.

It just left me completely underwhelmed.
