E38 750i refresh/resto log.

Looks great. Greatness might be enhanced by removal of mud flaps?

Noooo the mudflaps and towbar must remain!

This would make the coolest tow vehicle ever for a rally car. Or race car. Or really any trailer.

Your absolutely right Glen. Mud flaps have to go. Though I will be replacing them with these.

Towbar's going too. Since I've decided to keep the 740i as my daily that'll stay the tow car.

I'm not too far behind you with the 750i.

But the 740i's still a baby at only 140k

Do it for you! But looks peachy. You have inspired me to fettle my poverty spec 728i..... Time to fix drivers door which has rust from a shonky repair....

Had a play at adjusting the self leveling suspension today. I always though the car looked like it was sitting a bit low in the rear. Raised it a inch and it looks much better.

Been trying to get the radio going but without success. tried changing the amps and still cant get it to go..

Radio in which one Dave? Does it have a monitor - boot mounted radio?

In the 740i I've put in a spare amp and it's got rid of the clicking when you turn the volume up or down and the crackling sound it was making but it only has sound for about 30 second then nothing. Turn the radio off them back on again and you get 30 seconds of sound again.

From reading around the net I think it might need to be coded to my car. Unless I can find a amp thats from a car with the same spec stereo as mine.

The 750i just has static. Volume works, Can turn it off and on. monitor says it's picking up radio stations but all I hear is static.

Both have the 4:3 OBC screen and both have the DSP amp in the boot.

Scored this one today.

01 728i that was stolen and recovered.

Dont get too excited. the other side does't look so nice.

It's the same color as the 750 so I should be able to swap some panels. Style 32's will be going on it too.

Also has a M sport wheel and 16:9 display which will do the move to the 750 as well.

The 740i's going to be the work horse again when I trailer it home from Wellington sometime this week.

may i suggest putting the 32s on the 740 and the RCs on the 750?

edit:

BTW Mods/forum enginneer - need to make a change to the profile so Dave can list Car 1 ~ Car 7.

hes already run out of space for Car #4 and we all know theres #5 #6 and #7 coming soon...

When I'm changing wheels I'll do a side each on the 740 and 750.RC's on one side and 32's on the other and see how it looks.

But I'm kinda fond of the RC's on the 740i so I dunno.

Are you gonna part it out? If so, are the rear bumper and boot struts any good?

Will you swap rear lights and indicators across? Could be interested in the trans shifter lever if you are parting out.....

750 would look good in silver with the clear indicators from the 728

I'll have to wait till I see it. I took a punt(again) and bought it without seeing it.

I do know the rear bumper is a bit smashed on the left side though.

Definitely going to put the clear lights on the 750. But the shifter lever is yours if you want it.

Picked up the parts car today.

Loaded with goodies for both the 740i and the 750i.

Added bonus. It's the first E38 I've owned with a working stereo.

Turns out it has Esche Grau wood in it which is rare. And very hard to take a pic of with out it looking brown. It's definitely more Grey than Brown.
