E38 750i refresh/resto log.

Recommended Posts

If they were on an E39 without hub rings they'll need adapters to fit an e38. Cheap but the E38 needs staggered with at least 9s at the back IMO.

I agree wholeheartedly. The 740i has 275/40/18 on the rear and 255/45/18 on the front. Though I'm thinking for the 750i I might go to 20's.

Won't 20s kinda ruin the plush ride?

Not to mention - VERY vulnerable to damage - have even had to have our 18's straightened a couple of times

This is true.

I've been using the 750i as my daily for the last week and I've got to say that while I luv the torque the V12 brings to the table I miss the sporty handling of the 740i.

With the 740 being lowered and having a higher spring rate I can really throw it around the corners whereas the 750i floats and wafts along the highway very nicely but when it comes to cornering it leaves a bit to be desired.

I dont want the ride to be as hard as the 740i but I do want it lower with at the very last 18's.

Not to mention - VERY vulnerable to damage - have even had to have our 18's straightened a couple of times

Yes, my last set of 18's got a bit bent out of shape when I drove thru a truck stop at night and someone had kindly removed the steel covering plates from the scales leaving a(roughly) 10inch gap in the concrete. Mind you, that might have bent most wheels out of shape.

i have 20s on my E38, 10.5 on the back and 9 on the front from memory.

Looks very cool, but yes you do need to drive accordingly, avoiding potholes etc.

And too gangster.

Do you have to drive it whilst wearing gold chains and a flat peaked cap slightly crooked?

I think the E38's big enough to pull off these 21 inch Alpina wheels with class so 20's will be more than fine and wont look gangsta.

This one beats all of the above.

No douchey black grilles, no silly stance / camber, balanced ride height, classic wheel styles not pasta drainers = win.

Waiting for a new Fan Shroud and oil filter tank mounts to arrive.

A wash and polish today. Looked so good in town under the lights I had to snap a couple of pics. I either need a better camera or I'm just sh*t at taking pics..lol

Looks great. Greatness might be enhanced by removal of mud flaps?
