Mean bro!

im keen to see your set up bro. You have all the VRSF stuff I have too, good choice, I got the BMW P exhaust too bro! With a custom tune for FBO!

No where here does MHD custom tunes so I get mine from the states! I am DCT too, with the latest software flash as well.

where are you based?

Currebtly mine doesn’t have rattle and smoke fingers crossed. When I do I’ll go stage 1.

Maybe http://www.hivelocity.co.nz/ (Gavin Bellars) would do an MHD tune?
BM Workshop Botany recommended him when I asked for advice on a tune. I haven't had time yet but I've been planning to contact him about a custom tune, I was hoping he'd provide MHD flashable maps.

Really no reason a proper tuner couldn't do this, they make the maps the same way regardless. If they can't, then maybe they're doing some other hack job rather than a DME flash tune?

Edit: Website not working ATM, but they have a Facebook page too: https://www.facebook.com/pg/Hi-Velocity-136383189765362/about/

Reach out the Stevie S on the forum too. I exchanged a couple of PMs with him on the subject of custom MHD tunes a few months back. He was using highly regarded Ken of Wedge Performance for remote custom tuning. The downside there though is you need to do runs and logs yourself.

Incidentally this is what Stevie had to say, so unless you are planning to use e85...

"I got a custom Stage 2+ map done, but there is little to gain over the OTS map, I wouldn't bother  But different story with e85"

Thanks mate

yea I reached out to Ken wedge a few months back and he thought he could clean up the curve a quite a bit and make the power delivery smoother and maybe add a bit more power given I had inlets but Im not sure about road tuning.

What you think?

I would prefer if it was on a Dyno and remote tuned by him. I really don’t want to loose the mhd functionality of scanning and cold start etc.

Would totally agree with Steve on the OTS 98 map  vs custom tune , no point with stock turbo's ....and if you're running E85 you definitely want a custom tune over the OTS maps

Remember if you decide to install inlets/outlets with stock turbos , you will have issues with OTS maps and should get a custom tune

I looked into remote tuning on a dyno but the costs were going to be silly.....done all my tunes via logging etc....not sure how you lose functionality??

I wasn't aware of this bit.  Do you have any references on the subject?  Was hoping not to have to go down the path of a custom tune.  I guess it makes sense as the OTS tunes are designed to cater for fairly specific hardware.  Cheers.

I use BM Workshop Grey Lynn.

I have inlets and didn't know the OTS couldn't accomodate them?

However im Custom tuned by BQTuning, he specialises in the DCT. Based in the states, I send him logs and he amends accordingly. My car seems to be running sweet as I only get 2 shadow codes now and again, 29f4/5 but thats due to running catless.

I did preventative maintenance before I went FBO, Index 12 injectors, Delphi ignition coils and NGK spark plugs also double check your serpentine belt and pulleys, an oil leak can lead to catastrophic consequences if left to late, your crank will eat your belt up! I changed my pulleys and belt as a preventative measure.

I use ESCtuning and FCPeuro for my parts, to buy them here is extortionate.

I have just ordered some RHD Outlets and that is my final mod. Who is DCT on here? Have you guys got the latest software? it applies more pressure, so can take more power (layman terms) I have the software to flash it,  I have INPA and WinkFP.

As mentioned to Dyno tune with MHD would cost a fortune, I have paid for custom tuning with unlimited amendments.

Hit me up if anyone is keen to have a look or experience a custom MHD tune.

Flashed my F11 with MHD tune last week - stage 1 for now.

Looking at getting a catless downpipe and a chargepipe, VRSF seems to be the best option price/quality/fitment-wise. Where do you guys order your VRSF parts from, directly from VRSF? or ebay?

Shipping charges are a bit steep :/

I’ll have your answers bro!

I am full VRSF.

My parts are all VRSF and I bought them from either directly from them or top gear solutions.

If you have anything to ask pm me.

??

VRSF does seem great quality for the price. If i recall correctly, my dowpipes (2 of as N54) I had shipped free domestically to NZ Post's depot over there then used their youshop service to get them home for maybe $50 or so. Same with the charge pipe only cheaper. VRSF is great to deal with and will accommodate GST considerations, if you get my drift...

Totally do :D

That was one of my concerns too as it's clearly going to be over $399 incl shipping threshold.

They accomodate gst very kindly!

My last order was the DCI the stock airbox is too restrictive

Hey are awesome to deal with and the owner Tiago is very friendly and helpful

Just watch out for RHD fitment. The VRSF E series N55 downpipe did not state anything for RHD fitment on the page... and as it turns out you can't plug in the secondary O2 due to the steering rack.

Usable... just means even MHD won't disable the check engine light.

Thank you for that. Was wondering about this. Does the secondary O2 normally get disabled anyway by mhd on LHD cars?

No, they disable the emissions error codes which does the job as long as it's still connected. When the connector is unplugged you get a different error code which MHD doesn't disable.
I've asked for them to disable this code too but as I'm apparently the only one with this issue they don't want to spend time on it.

I might try to plug the sensor in and tie it to something in the engine bay some day. But I suspect the weird readings it'll get from doing that might cause other issues.
And I have to take apart crap in the engine bay to reach the connector which I don't want to deal with now haha.

Makes sense. The CEL would annoy the heck outta me though..haha. wonder if a 90 degree O2 spacer would allow it to fit? Guess I wont know till I install the pipe, or attempt to

Hey bro

just want to clarify a few things.

im N54 and decat, I have unticked the oem cat/downpipes option and written into my custom tune is to disable the cel light & detecting I have no cats.

however after a full cycle of the car running, I get the 2 inactive shadow codes!

29F4 and 29F5 - catalytic converter conversion 1 & 2

its nothing to worry about though

Hmm dunno, you could get someone to weld in a new hole.
Or avoid getting into my situation and buy a brand known to fit haha.

Damn, do you know if this also applies to F-series?

No idea. You could drop VRSF an email to confirm, if they don't explicitly say RHD fits then be wary. I'd suggest before buying any DP to always see if you can confirm RHD fitment, I don't think all American sellers bother to test it.

I just got a 135i couple days back and just wanted to test out the mhd flasher APK a little. Like check errors and what licenses would cost. I have managed to get the app to show my car a couple times but I seem to have issues communicating with the dme and have to delete APK data and re open mhd again. Is this due to not having a battery charger? If anyone knows..

You should always maintain 13.7 volts with a suitable charger when coding (flashing).....damage can occur to more than just one module

Okay so must be a voltage thing then I think the app showed 11.7 volts

Also is there anyone using mhd tunes that has a Japan import with nz maps loaded on? I'm just a little worried if I flash a tune I might lose the nz maps or the ability to use them..
