Nearly an owner, need pre-purchase inspection advice

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've been on the lookout for an e39 for a while now, and after a couple of near misses I've today put a deposit down on a 2001 530i Touring Motorsport. Very exciting, but I want to get a thorough pre-purchase inspection done. Can anyone recommend any good places in the New Lynn area? I've read good things about Glenn and Botany Motorworx but it's on the other side of town.

Thanks,

Chris

Has to be one of the most moronic statements I've ever read here... and that's saying something!

Sadly the 530i was a dud. Lots of little issues and a couple big ones means I'll be passing on this one. Big thanks to Glenn and Botany Motorworx who did a great job and very accommodating. Dealer wasn't too happy when I showed him an A4 page worth of issues, anyone else who is interested in this car should definitely be cautious.

Any chance of putting the fault list up, or is that considered a no no?

Respect for acknowledging you got it wrong.

BMW's can be a tricky beast, and Glenn is fastidious in checking for problems.

A small amount of money up front with Glenn saved the potential buyer a huge expense.

I'm in the same boat looking at a E90 325i M 2007.

Issue is I currently have a one way ticket booked to Auckland for Saturday morning after a very "light" vtnz pre purchase and only finding this thread now.

I hope Glenn can fit me in on Saturday.

Wonder if anyone else on here has looked at the same car?
