E30 subframe bushing gap

Recommended Posts

Is this gap between the top of the rear subframe bushing and the chassis normal? It is the same on both sides.

That looks excessive to me, the bushsing has a metal sleeve which sticks out the top and seats inside a recess around the bolt, with the washer that you can see above it that is meant to be around the metal sleeve and stops the bushing sliding up and out.

To me it looks as if the center metal sleeve has likely torn from the rest of the bush.

Thanks for that John, I thought it didn't look right and I get occasional clunking when reversing out of drive way and have checked everything else is tight. I'll replace them when I deal with the rest of the suspension...
