E39 drivers door woofer not working.

Recommended Posts

The 2nd E39 M5 i'm restoring has the DSP system, no nav. All speakers except the drivers woofer work fine. I removed the offending speaker and hooked it up to a battery and it works fine. The door harness wiring looks o.k to me, no kinks or damage to the wiring sheath.

My guess is the DSP amplifier speaker channel for this woofer is kaput? Any other ideas?

Can you use a multi meter to check the signal at each stage?

might be a lame suggestion - have you tried another speaker to those terminals?

could be a connection issue in door wire harness plug...

my 2 cents worth :)

Fixed.

Got lucky... had a real good look at the wiring behind the door card, and re routed it in a more tidy fashion, either a piece of foam surrounding the top tweeter fell in between the big white plug and socket, or there was a kink in the wiring. All speakers working now.

This is the first e39 i've owned with dsp. Sounds really good although lacking a wee bit of detail in the higher frequencies.
