Editing your own post

Recommended Posts

How many times have you done this? You write a post, check it, post it, and then notice that huge, glaring error which either makes you feel like a illiterate idiot, or completely transforms the meaning of your post into somethig completely different to your intention.

Obviously, you can edit it, which is great, but invariably leaves the 'Edited by...' message. I'm obviously being pedantic, but that annoys the hell out of me!

Would it be possible to have a few minutes to edit a post, before this happens? Post, edit, make corrections, submit and so on for (say) 3 minutes before the 'Edited... ' message is added?

I'd even go so far as to say 5 mins.

Seems the "edited by" is a permanant fixture of my threads or posts. Mostly due to poor typing or spelling..

I concur.

I usually copy the text and delete my message quickly.

Paste it, make the correction and post again

One can't stand being branded an editor of ones posts.

+1 this. my spelling is terrible (and gets worse the later it is at night), so most of my posts feature the "edited by" line. Always bothers me.

Most forums im on default to having a 5 minute or so leeway to edit without that line being added, others have a checkbox to remove the line.

But does it really matter?

Ha ha . Since reading this I have far less edited messages.

Cheers. :D
