Wellington installer recommendations...

Recommended Posts

Hi

I've an ex Jap e39 (a daily driver, not a weekend wanderer) and have had a new headunit installed, which is fine... though terribly gutless so keen to explore upgrade options (amp etc) though nothing over the top.

Can anyone recommend any good installers in Wellington/Hutt?

Happy to pay fair rates but don't want a half arsed job.

In addition, radio reception is poor - it gets horrible distortion/interference at times (it did with factory system also), is this a common issue with e39's?

Suggestions appreciated.

Cheers

Smithy

Hi mate if you want serviced focussed on the customers requirements,

speak to Lance, ML Audio Ltd.

Former owner of Abtec in lower Hutt before selling his half.

0273833046

He is just setting up so no shop just yet but has all the stock etc.

Always good to help out new business if you can!!

I brought a bunch of stuff for my E30 last week

I'd second streetsoundz as well. They did a very professional build on my e36 with no shortcuts. They can do from basic to full on show and have a good ear for dialling in a system. I'm fussier than most and would go back again rather than doing my own.

Cheers Andy - will give him a go. Abtec did the install for the head unit and it was quite hard work to be honest, would be keen to give someone else a shout (the did an average job on a Magna of mine a few years back too... so that's two strikes lol).

make sure the radio antennae is properly connected to the radio and the antannae itself has a amplifier too.The ariel is an array in the back window. My e34 had very good radio reception which in wellington is not always straightforward.I would imagine an e39 would be at least as good

Hence why Lance is a former owner. there were problems in the back room.

I have bought head units off Abtec great prices but found one of the installers quite stroppy.

A wee update: I spoke to Lance - it's not really his thing, he's focused on audio quality improvements rather than relatively basic stuff like this which I can understand.

Have left it for a while as getting hitched in a few weeks, but will head into Streetsoundz at some stage and see what they reckon. It's kind of an odd one as I don't want to spend too much $$$$$ as the value of the car isn't huge and I'm unlikely to keep it for more than another few months when I'll likely upgrade.

In saying that, who knows where things will be in a couple of months
