E36 328I Track Car

Recommended Posts

The best brakes for the money are e36 m3 with pagid pads.

What is your opinion of using the e46 330i discs instead of the e36 m3 discs?

Would they be better brakes for the money?

e36 m3 are floating where as e46 330i are solid. There is a weight advantage with the e36 m3 discs which counts quite a bit on unsprung weight. while slightly larger the 330 ones have pretty much effect pad wear surface.

Thanks for that.

Very helpful information.

Pretty sure M3 3.0 are solid and only the 3.2 Evo are floating. Definately different part numbers.

Went for DTC70 front pads and HPPLUS rear pads, both from Hawk. Racetech stock them.

BC Direct in Christchurch. Call Codie there and say I sent you. Wheel came from them.

I'm using a push button on a telephone cord for the horn as I couldn't work out the slip ring and make it work.

Have also ordered XYZ coil overs and hard race camber arms

Loving those CF door cards!

Have you done anything to the engine as far as track reliability? Oil cooler or baffled sump? One thing I noticed after tracking my Ti with the m52b28 was after a 15 min session around Ruapuna I would come in and have some tappet noise, it went away however but I noticed it mainly after coming in after a hot session. Loving that rear diffuser!!!

Cant wait to see more of this build!

Yes got a hard motorsport baffle going in.

Have the same issue with noise after a session. Will go to a thicker oil next time.

I get no valve train noise at all after driving hard for extended track days or extended sprinted road trips in mine using ELF 5w30 full synthetic Euro4 oil.... mind you the motor in mine is not a sludged up import and I only use genuine oil filters

Hey Glenn, what do you think of the 'mann' and 'mahle' oil filters?

They are meant to be the best according to the internets.

I use ryco but I'm looking at switching if there is a better alternative.
