Ohh...E36 Wagon!

Recommended Posts

1997 my arse. It's not even a facelift.

"Prod. date 1996-02-26"

And this is the problem with that recent asinine thread on registration dates verses production dates.

This is NOT a 1997 car folks!

Agreed....they need to update with correct build date / year, however, despite the fact they haven't managed to do the most logical thing here upon listing it for sale, it looks like a rather tidy wagon, with some TLC, and a few personalisations, it would be awesome! Just hard to find a 328i wagon in general, hopefully it goes to a good home

Yes and to be honest I was tempted but couldn't get into that interior colour every day. Brown and beige, oh my Lord. Hurts my eyes.

Seems to be a typical exterior / interior combo for calypsorot, if im not wrong there, i'd probably go with the black leather for that paint work ...enough of my dreaming for now hahah

Drive it up to Auckland for our monthly mini-meet... ;)

Or maybe Taupo is as far as a Southerner can tolerate? I'll meet you there to inspect? :)

I've driven it. Vanos seals have gone (underpowered at low rpm and hesitant idling). I've made an offer with that in mind and contacted Ray re: vanos seal replacement (I don't have the right tools).

Now... Who wants a tidy manual E30 320i on BBS?

'Tis now mine for a very reasonable $3K and, thanks to an equally reasonable quote from Ray at HellBM, it will go straight there for vanos seal repair!!

Sweet!

Having met the present owner I am in no doubt that there was no intent to mislead. He's not a car person and, to be fair, the rego says 1997. I very much doubt that he has any idea how to search for build sheet via the VIN. We're quick on here to assume that everyone's knows what they've got and they're just trying to pull a fast one, when most of the time they don't know what they've got or what it's worth and trust what the previous owner/dealer told them and trust that the rego will be correct.

Just to be clear, i was taking the piss.

Trademe lists cars by their registered date, if it doesnt match the build date, whoop de do. Anyone that cares that much would check the vin and know anyway.

May as well while it's there.

This'll be staying auto. My better half doesn't want to learn to drive a manual and she'll use it now and again. Rest of the time it'll be a comfy work hack for me.
