if you have the early steering wheel with the built in airbag light .

there wont be a dash airbag light .

all the electrics for the airbag and impact sensor etc are all in the steering wheel.

there is a 3 pin steering wheel contact system . check there is power there etc .

maybe the unit in the steering wheel has failed (common enough) ,

just replace the wheel with another one the same or swap it for a non airbag sports wheel from a early e36 non airbag car etc.

most  early e34 models had no airbags and some inbetween models had optional or retro fit airbag setup like what you have.

see pics

yes mine is the same as that mate.

i pulled it a part today and when i got down to the wee light for the airbag 1 wire had broken ..

so i just soldered it back on put it back together and it works..

the light comes on when i turn the key and then goes out..[like it should i imagine ] but then a bout a min later it comes back on and stays on.
