Cheap E39 M5

Recommended Posts

It's unusual... It's nappa - maybe that's what happens when it fades in sunlight and has some wear?

I have heard the caramel leather is prone to wear but that is pretty bad.

Looks like a good project for the right price.

Looks like extreme uv ray damage combined with general wear and tear.

The seats would look as new with a restoration kit from furniture clinic.

You could easily sink 5 k in to that example. More if needing mechanical attention. Would be hard to get over 20k back due to the kms.

i'd LOVE to take it on a project to restomod, but its still a lot of money.

Compared to your old one Martin, this one looks like a dog.

After looking at that I don't think that is a cheap M5 at all.

Around 10k might be relative.

If basic interior and cosmetic problems are that bad, the suspension, engine core (vanos etc) and drive terrain must be pretty shagged.

Usually such issues of neglect go hand in hand.

Yeah its looks more like general neglect not general wear and tear to my eye  Probably hasn't spend much on it and is looking to get rid of it before something costly fails.

A cheap M5 is like cheap Motorsport, an oxy-moron.

I have looked at them in the US as a possible buy.  But anything under $15K US is an expensive rescue.  A few being advertised with "Funny sound from engine".  Had it serviced just last year.

Bought by someone in Auckland it seems, sight unseen, for somewhere between 15K (my offer) and his asking price

I'll be up on the 15th of October, you can show it to me then, we both know you have an M5 collecting problem ;-)
