Advice on buying a 135i 2009-2010

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am really keen to get a 135i  , looking for a 2009-2010 model so would be N54 engine.  I have read some stories online about HPFP , water pump and walnut blasting !  What are the things to look out for ? What are peoples experiences of this cars reliability? Would it be best to go for a 2010 Model?  Any info would be appreciated,  I really want one of these but dont want a dog!

Thanks

Great cars, alot of fun but proceed with these steps.

1/ Get a Pre Purchase inspection done by a reputable BMW workshop

2/ Cut a deal with the seller.

3/ Buy an Autosure warranty

4/ Be prepared for the water pump to go.

The only people I would recommend to do the PPI and servicing on these N54 twin tubo'd vehicles is BM Workshop Botany (2716636) or Grey Lynn (3761236)

I'd suggest an N55 if you find one within your budget. They seem more reliable.

Get a warranty if you can, Autosure has already made a loss on me after a water pump leak was found and my stock chargepipe exploded!

Oil Filter housing Leak

Waterpump

abs pump

purchase warranty for sure, I bleed autosure dry

With the money you save on maintenance/repairs, you can probably get an upgraded turbo for the N55 which will turn the tables :D

MHD is out for the N55 now so they can now be tuned just as easily too :)

The N54 motors seem reliable just the parts bolted to them are the issue.
