New member, a few BM's, Mazda convert

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I just joined today! :D

I've been a big Mazda guy since the early 90s but recently got bored/disillusioned and decided to switch codes.

My wife and I have owned a few beemers (/bimmers?!?) over the years and so I decided to buy myself a Bavarian projekt.  I found a fairly rough E36 316i compact locally which I settled on.  Plan is to swap in a 6 cylinder, and I initially rushed out and brought a M54B30 engine, although I'm now re-assessing this decision and thinking a M52B28 might make more practical sense for a conversion.

Any thoughts or advice appreciated.  Looking forward to meeting up with Kapiti / Wellington people.

hi Hayden, and welcome along.  Looks like a good project you have there.  Plenty of info here around e36 and e46 compact conversions, in threads and contributors.

keep an eye on the meetings room, you'll be very welcome to attend and join the rabble ;)

Hi Olaf, thanks for the welcome.

We've owned 4 E36's now.  This one was a manual 328 we had in London.

blimey, look at all that space!  were you outside the M25 there? (I had an e30 Touring in London, though that was 16 years ago now).

On the edge of SE London - suburbia, but 30 minutes commute to the City. Best of both worlds.

Another one of ours
