Genuine or not?

Recommended Posts

I have these Style 32s which do not have a huge amount stamped or cast into them- "BMW", the offset and width on the front, and a couple of seemingly random numbers and two dating stamps on the back. Is there any definitive way to tell if these are real or junk- before I waste money tidying them up?

If it has those stamps in between the bolt holes then id say they are most likely legit.

Weigh them?

Real style 32's are pretty light, knockoffs will probably be heavier.

lots of these style 32 wheels get a refurb and all the casting numbers on the face get ground/sanded off etc

style 32 have all there numbers on the front face .

like this

numbers became very faint when layers of paint go over them

Yes they are E39 fitment, they came on the 520 (why the heck else would anyone buy a 520...)

No photo (too lazy) but they have the same kind of thing as Brent's photo has- BMW, 1892961, 2, 8Jx17, IS20 cast into the front. The rear side has HLB, 3.527 and some date stamps cast into it and 17T and T16E stamped into the hollow depressions.

you should be fine. ET20 on a 8x17 is standard for E39 fitment and if it had the stamps like brents photo then it will be legit.
