E30 318 water pump

Recommended Posts

This is what i refer to as "c*nt of a time number 2 (see E46 reservior post)" . The bloody water pump will not come out and the removal tabs are now broken.  This puppy is corroded in.  I've got some internet tips and will try these later but any further tips will be gratefully welcomed.  I have crc'd it for an overnight soaking

Paul had this issue at mega meet last year.

Grab a hammer, and a screwdriver (or equivalent) and hit it on alternating sides, eventually you'll be able to "unscrew" it.

Much appreciated. It worked! It wasn't so hard actually but doing it in the dark whilst getting hailed on probably wasn't helping my motivation

I had the same problem trying to remove my E46 318 pump. Seems to be a bit of a global problem once they get old and corroded. I made this simple and cheap extractor, I'm happy to supply dimensions or lend it out to people contemplating doing the same job.
