I remember when they had it on their yard back in '07. Had a look at it and it was mint. They wouldn't let me test drive it though, so didn't actually drive it. I ended up buying a 1997 NZ new 535i cos from memory I think this was close to $30k! Used to see it parked behind parliament all the time.

These 'lil' V8's are awesome - and I think with a manual box will be a pretty cool, fun drive.

As they say - a lot of car for not a lot of money! Buy it, drive it, enjoy it, then do what @BM WORLD says - drop in a 4.4l!

Haven't driven a 3.5L manual but the couple of autos ive driven were lackbuster, only difference i felt compared to the M54 3L was reduced torque availability.  4.4L would be mandatory unless you dropping in something special.

Looked at it yesterday. Tidy but the 3.5 V8 puts me off. Would almost be better as a 6. I don't like the steering feel in the V8 E39s, the rack and pinion setup in the 6 cyl cars is definitely better. Might have drive of it today.

ahhh, the 535i.

Sound, Fuel consumption and expenses of a 540i

Speed of a 530i. Nearly. :lol:

I suspect too, the manual box livens it up a lot though.

Again, our manual M54 525i is like night and day, compared to an auto 525i. I'd pick a manual 525i over an auto 530i even (again :D, but I have 3 cars, all manual now). Plus, upgrading properly from a 2.5 to 3.0 is easier/cheaper than doing a manual conversion properly.

If anyone wants to pay over the odds for a manual E39, they can have ours for $5K :P I'll even throw in $$$ worth of brand new DMF and clutch kit etc, that it doesn't need yet! At least ours has some options... but not as tidy as that one - poor thing - ravaged by being the taxi for 3 little boys!

Its been 'withdrawn from sale'. Anyone here buy it?

@SmithyInWelly? @Herbmiester? :D

Not guilty your honour... though I am now "officially" in the market for a new DD - after having a wee altercation with a biddy in a Corolla going up Haywards (her fault).

Ahhh, just a zf 310z then.

It might struggle with a m62b44 in front of it.
