Nice interior, but it doesn't make it double the price of a regular 530i. 174,000ks isn't exactly going to attract buyers either..

Can pick up 530i E39s quite easily for 3-5k in good condition.

Might have been worth that a few years ago, but I can't see it getting close to that these days.

If it was manual, that would certainly make more sense.. but yeah... tiptronic.

Good to know I'm not crazy. It looks nice and tidy, but the price is a bit nuts to me.

Note the seats are manual adjustment not electric.

My 530 which was nz new and imo top condition was sold for about half this asking price so its definitely not going to sell in a hurry.

But that colour is amazing and if it has had all the cooling system and suspension parts sorted and is running perfectly I would say its worth $7-8000 to the right buyer.

Hand built...? Really? Well I suppose some of the bits are put in by people as it comes down the production line so it kind of counts right?

Paint Code 490 = Sonderlackeriung (or something close in German) which literally means Special Paint Finish. If you ask for a tin of BMW code 490 you might get a bit of a funny look.

So much drivel on TradeMe, probably passing on what the dealer told them when they bought the car.

It's a nice colour, though it doesn't increase the price.  and it's ex-UK, so includes attendant risk.

$3k in my view.  $4k5 if all the maintenance is totally taken care of.

I like white leather, though couldn't live with it myself.  YMMV.

I think that's a bit harsh. If it's well sorted it's worth more than that. As someone else mentioned it looks awesome.

what I don't understand is that they have all the options on it and then it's for manual seats?! Go figure.

I think at 5-6 I'd buy it and sell my silver one. Even with the manual seats. ?

Yeah I'd put it at 5-6k but if there is proof of recent big works then maybe 2-3 more.  It does look awesome.  My 530 I paid 5.5k for over a year ago now owes me 12, doing all the work myself, but I went a bit nuts - as you do...

But look guys - it's got a battery! Must be worth the asking price:ph34r:

Still cheap at 12.......over 10 years I would have easily sunk 35k into my old 728i including purchase price.   Did carry me for 140000km......more rewarding than spending 35k on a corolla.....

yeah fair enough, we have differing opinions.  I base mine on some very well-sorted examples of e39 540i that have gone for less than $5k recently.  I reckon there's a long tail on the seller's market expectations of what an e39 is actually worth.

It's all theoretical as it won't see any of my hard earned.  Good luck to seller and buyer alike.

Serious question: How many of these 150 hand-built cars in the UK with individual options had the same exact non-electric seats?

Yes, I sense there is increasing $$$ being sought offshore for e39 M5's, dunno about here though - yet...

That's an m5. That price isn't too crazy, it's just not representative of nz prices. The 530i here is absolutely overpriced. ?

Still see the occasional M5 here for under $10k.  But my god would they be time bombs.
