Bolt in harness bar for track days

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I posted this in an old thread and I'm not sure if it's been seen, so I thought I'd start a new topic as I can't find any info on this.

I've started tracking my E36 and I've just fitted some Sparco Evo seats. I'd like to run a harness on track days and will at some point put in a half cage/roll bar. In the meantime I was wondering if I could use a harness bar like this: https://www.redline360.com/cipher-auto-harness-bar-universal-CPA5000HB

I've been looking through the motorsports manual and I'm unsure if one would pass scrutineering.

Has anyone used a harness bar like this?

For safety sake i wouldn't use harnesses without a cage, harnesses are made to hold you in the seat and upright. in the unfortunate even of a rollover you will be unable to move and the with no roll cage to protect you from the roof collapsing could cause very adverse effects.

I feel these harness bars are more built for looks than functionality.....i understand why you want to run harnesses but also why put your life at risk?

Just my thoughts on it anyway......

Good point. That wouldn’t be a good position to be in.

I just got a quote for a 4 point cage which was very reasonable, so I’ll spend the extra and and do it properly.

Thanks for the reply.
