E53 X5 seat reclining by itself

Recommended Posts

Hi all - has anyone hit a problem with an electric seat reclining by itself randomly, which in turn triggers the alarm's motion sensor? Happens to be the driver's one.

Any advice appreciated!

This might show up in a scan with BMW Scanner.

Maybe the switch jamming against the seat shroud. Have had this on other vehicles

Cheers for advice guys - will let you know how I get on. At least I can turn off the motion sensors (internal/tilt) by pressing button 2 twice. Went off 4 times today ....

there's a logical explanation for this.  let's put that aside, and consider the following.

your car needs an exorcism.  I suspect you've picked up a grade 2 phantasm on your trip around Red Rocks, Pete.  Who you gonna call?

Hmmm. Still not sure about the seat side of things - doesn't seem to be happening (much).

Regarding the alarm going off randomly - I did a bit of a search and the usual culprit is the hood switch. Disconnected it and no alarm triggering since....
