My 70's Hillman Avenger/s

Recommended Posts

Not sure if I've done this, here my 1st one when I was 17 (RIP)

Red / Orange 1976 GLS is my Daily Driver (shares with the 540i)

White one is the Fun car 90bHP at the wheels with Twin Dellorto's & cam, cage and stuff, visits Racetracks too

Barely classes as Euro but I'm clinging to it & the worlds most Badge engineered car

I had an Aveger Tiger, mine had twin Webbers, pop up pistons, ported head a cam and long tube headers. Supposedly made well  over 100 hp. I sold it in 85 to buy a yellow Mazda RX4 coupe.

These were my dream back in the day - have only ever had an RX2 sadly... now good unmolested ones as scarce as rocking horse dudu and priced accordingly.

The Rx4 was a cool car and was quick in the day. Engine was bridge ported and she was noisey.

The Hilman Avenger has a special place in my heart.

Bought a pretty tidy one for $350 back in 2006 with some mates and spent a few weekends trying to kill it on a paddock.

It had a fresh 1600 in it and was a 4-speed manual, good for donuts in top gear on the grass, probably all day. The only issues we really had were the engine mounts breaking. We fixed that by stropping the engine in place.

In hindsight I would have loved to have restored it, but being a young early 20 something idiot back then, it was decided that paddock bashing was a better idea.

Sorry to change marques but as people have mentioned rotaries, I sold mine a couple of years ago. It was quite stock.
