How do i find bmw sales numbers?

Recommended Posts

I wanna find out how many x5 e53 4.6is were sold in nz.

I'm trying to figure out just how rare this m62b46 motor is in nz.

I found data for bmw as a whole, but not individual models.

when i had my 535is i had quite a long conversation with someone at BMWNZ about the whole HD12 thing (thats what that batch of e34 were called).I think it was a  BMW car club AGM at BMWNZ headquarters.

Who did you send it to?

Not sure the request will get back to me through the official channels, so here ya go.

The following numbers of X5 4.6iS were registered as new vehicles in NZ..

2002 - 26

2003 - 29

2004 - 1

Grand total of 56 units.

Disclaimer - information is only from 2002 onwards, but I believe the 4.6iS was not introduced until that year, so there should be none prior.

Be careful Nathan. From memory X5 engine sump and bell housing profiles are not similar to sedan RWD only vehicles

Thanks Glenn.

The x5 sump is better for my e46 conversion as it is rear pan.

I will take your advice and look into bell housing profiles.

Thanks Jon for that.

Yes, unfortunately the m62b46 motor is as rare as I feared.

Back to plan A.

For the 1M Coupe, NZ got a very large allocation compared to the overall sales volumes as it was such a popular model here.

Grand total was 47 units, 12 Black, 15 Orange and 20 white.

I think NZ also holds claim the last one being sold new!

^ wow - so 13% of the total NZ 1M's are currently on the market!

Edit; one is import - so 11%

Are they all NZ new though? That figure of 47 does not include any imports that have come in, only those registered as NZ new.

Thanks for the reply Jon.

Know of 8 for sale today, 2 black, 3 VO, 3 white and my calculations that is 17%. All NZ new.

Not sure why the asking prices are up there though, especially as there are so many for sale.

A black one 47ks up changed hands for around 60k this week,  moving in the right direction.

Interesting article by Tiff needell and co in latest Modern Classics mag - BMW to buy now (as are predicted to appreciate significantly) E46 M3/E39 M5/635Csi/Z4M/130i ... No mention of the 1M? weird.

Any idea on the number of 130s sold new in NZ? UK only has 1000 left (1/4 the number of E46 M3s!)

I had a M635CSi many years ago - they were rated as 'future classic' and considered desirable even then. Prices for them have climbed, but not in the same way as the M5s or similar. The M635CSi is/was a complex and expensive beast, even when compared to the M5.

Z8s have just taken off for the stratosphere, price wise. I recall seeing them with 6-figure price tags at Essen 10 years ago.

Of them all, I'd take a Z4. Any Z4. Yes, an M would be nice, but not necessary for a great and fun driving experience.

Sorry, can't help with that one. The electronic records don't go back as far as the E28, and it was well before my time!
