NZ New M3 Evo with Individual leather

Recommended Posts

Now THIS is the car to get if you wanted an E36 M3 and can live with SMG (or want to convert it). An Evo, in techno, low KM, NZDM, carbon, and individual "Blue Violet" leather.

Not a fan of the eyebrow things or the exhaust tips, but easily fixed.

Fook.

You don't see many good ones come up often and that's a good one at a sharp price.

  • Exhaust tips must go but that's easy.
  • Eyelids must go but that's easy.
  • Carbon decals must go but that's easy.
  • Genuine ACS rear window spoiler.
  • Electric rear vents!!!!!

And as far as Individual leather colours go, that's hardly offensive and seems to be in very good condition.

Now, as for SMG, well it's not my preference but they can now be serviced/fixed in the aftermarket so you're not looking at $5k if something goes wrong. They're not as elegant as a DCS and take some getting used to (expect to spend a month jerking around everywhere) but they're not entirely terrible. I certainly wouldn't fork out the ~$4k (?) required to get it converted.

Pity there's no service history listed - if you don't know if the VANOS and cooling system have been done (probably not at 92k kms) you'll need to front ~$2k for that immediately but I still think it's a bargain at $22k.

Somebody needs to buy this (and bring it to Auckland for me to fawn over).

Well well well. There it is, my baby. I did 60,000 kms in this beauty in its first four years so it’s been pretty quiet since.

Exhaust tips - Genuine AC Schnitzer purchased from the late great Jason Richards - sets the car apart from all others.

Eyelids - personal preference I guess but looked the business 20 years ago.

Carbon decals - ???  Genuine carbon fibre centre console purchased from JR again.

Electric rear windows - these are a must as almost impossible unless you are a contortionist midget to open those rear windows.

Genuine AC Schnitzer rear window spoiler, also purchased from JR  - at least you got that right.

This car was/is the sh*t!   Loved every minute of the four years I owned it   Has been very quiet since then though. 36 minutes Whangarei to Warkworth and 2 hours 29 minutes Whangarei to Tirau back in the day. Superb machine. 10 litres per 100 kms at 160 kmh.   Very very tempted. You never know. Shuey.

Damn the JR connection makes me want it more.

The reality of life is a bugger sometimes - new car is third on the current list behind job and house... and I doubt this will be available in a couple of months time when I will have hopefully addressed the first two.

Gah!

Gee, thanks.

I'll take your word that the console, handbrake handle and light switch surround is real CF. The problem is it looks like decals from those photos so I'd probably have to get rid of it anyway if the same held true IRL.

DTM tips looked the biz 20+ years ago, not so much now. I actually had the option of those when I put the Remus in, glad I went for the alternative. Each to their own I suppose, it certainly sets it apart.

Why did you sell it out of interest?

As far as I am aware the cf bits are genuine as purchased from my good friend the late great Jason Richards. They certainly are not decals as I installed them. Why did I sell it?  Well back in the day the SMG was known to be a tad fragile. While I had no issues with it I was always conscious that there could one day be an issue. That’s the only reason I sold it, oh and the fact that I happened to be at Pukekohe the very first time the Aussie V8’s were here and I got seriously seduced. I am led to believe that today all of those issues are either gone or easily fixed. This is a great car and if I had a couple of spare $$$ I would seriously consider buying it back.
