E90 Rear View Mirror deteriorating

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

Can anyone direct me in how to fix this, as I have seen I can just replace the mirror cell but I have yet to find a supplier for that or anyone that has a good quality second hand rear view mirror.

Thanks,

Andy

What's failing?

I don't know how to fix it but if it's the same problem as the E46 mirror do NOT let it leak out onto your console, it will ruin it.

My bad, the picture didn't get added for some reason.

I've taken apart the mirror to try and get rid of the auto dimming gel but it seems that the reflective surface of the mirror is degraded aswell so it has just become a piece of glass now. I'm desperately trying to find a rear view mirror for a good price but am unsure if the same issue will arise in a couple of years again but I saw on youtube there is a way to just replace the mirror cell but have no idea where to purchase them from.

Okay, I see the problem.

You can fix that by snipping the two white cords with a pair of scissors.

Sigh, I've heard that one plenty but my missus got it for me so I can't really take it off.

But it'd be really helpful if you can guide me in the direction to a replacement or such. :)

lol

Well I don't know the solution I'm afraid but this might be the right one for a DIY?

But as I say, I don't really know.

If there's ANY chance of it leaking then put a towel under it to prevent damage.

And tell your wife missus off for inappropriate gifts.
