Holden VE V6 to V8 swap

Recommended Posts

Can I put this here?...

I aint no Holden fan...and not a member of any other forum.

Put the L76 engine and trans on the bench today to inspect for needed parts. Going to do this before the E39.

Subframe. Radiators. Body harness. Diff. Fuel pump. Air induction.Hsv headers...bla bla blaaa. Oh yea..HSV massive brakes...

Planning to do a 48hr swap...if all goes well.

Sprayed cross member.

Arranging all the parts and ordering new bits.

Hoping to remove engine and trans tomorrow and will fit in 2-3 weeks if all goes to plan.

Yea man..

F. 295 to 365mm

R. 300 to 345mm

The rears backing plates too small and the shoes sit at 8mm deeper so either a mod or a hub replacement ...?

Tomorrow heads off. Planned out the porting of throttle body. Might fit Ls3 one on mine or do the same. Exciting job!!! Decided to do the job in place rather than removing engine

I used to have a side hustle in boring out throttle bodies many years ago, you need quite a good seal on the butterfly to avoid leaks. I had a little angled jig and would wire cut them at my work. The I changed job and would turn them on an angled jig in the lathe instead.

Only one way...and thats....THE PUSH ROD WAY BAYBEAR!!!

4 inch pistons....

Ratio of inlet and exh valves....me no understanding

Heaps flow inlet of head...way too small for exh...Phils Ute, guy I work with, doesnt want to port and polish, going poofter pansy..heard some smak from other peeps thats not worth all the work...I'll do it to mine definitely after having a closer look at the restrictions...anyway

Area to port throttle body...not freakin doing it

Course threads...

DOD delete system valley cover...

Heads washed on on way to engineers tomorrow. 20 thou.

Enjoying this job ay...once again...planning my one...

Just trying to catch up on where you're at.  big cam (new followers and timing chain to suit); pistons cleaned up?  Port/polish heads?  And you're deleting the airflow mgmt/DOD thing, and porting the throttle body?

Looks like it'll be a beast, are you going to post a startup video?  Enjoying the progress.

Stage 2 cam, chain & gears, high performance lifters, going to measure pushrod lenght reasons being milled .15 thou of heads, took of valves and base of new cam different. Trunioun bushes and centers fitted, owner of ute didnt want port, polishing heads and porting  of thottle body...so ill definitely do them on mine, otr induction, complete dod delete, hsv headers and cats, lower temp thermo cos ls loves heat, drilled holes to help bleed...ticked me off how long they take to burp...
