328ti Rally

Yeah been in that shed a number of times, thats where my old E30 ended up & my seats came from.

Yeah they are a true coilover for the rear. Will end up making new tops for the rear towers, as the strut mounting position needs to push outboard 18mm to clear the coilover from the body. Will also reinforce the trailing arm points. Palmside sell escort rear towers, that I might end up buying to make the process easier & the tower stronger.

Don't rush down, as its a far way away from being ready.

So some big mistakes were made with the blue shell, big enough that for the price of the a new shell and considering some damage we uncovered we made the call to start fresh. This was prior to lockdown 1.

Fast forward to now, car is in the last stages of getting the cage welded, I have an event on the 10th October I want to run at so theres a big final push to finish this.
I create a page on Facebook for my mates to see the progress, but it turned out I had made a group instead, facebook noob. So i have created a public page for the car, swing over and have a look if your interested. I've just dumped all my photos down at this stage, not much of a write up as that was all in the group.

Been flat out finishing off the cage, painting and getting ready for the Rankleburn Rally on the 10th October.

I'm now just bolting it all back together, really happy with how its all turning out. Pretty stoked with the paint on the cage/interior & engine bay turned our for my first crack at painting a car. Took the day off yesterday to get the engine/gearbox in, drivers side is all buttoned up now minus the final install of the dash.Waiting on my LSD to come back, front struts and a bit of reinforcement welding on the trailing arms. Have entered the rally so need to keep smashing this out.

Cheers,

We finished the car Friday night, started our first rally Saturday.

Had a dream run, no issues with the car and was able to build speed as the day went on. So much fun.

Some onboard if anyone is interested, havent got the gopro set up right, like alot of things it was untested prior to the first stage.

Still plenty to learn with the driving too, have the autocross season coming up, along with some rally sprints/hill climbs that'll give me much needed seat time.

So really big f*&k up on my part, trying to hard to try and make up 1.5seconds to get a class win on a hill climb saw us leave the road pinned in 3rd. Got a tad unlucky as there was a slip on the side of the road that we fell into, if it wasnt there we would have driven down the grass. Anyways, my mistake has resulted in time for a new shell.

Almost looks like it might be time for a change of "sponsorship" too. Can I suggest, going off the above photo, an earthworks product may be more suitable? perhaps Ditch Witch out of the US - you could call it "Which Ditch" instead lol.
