2012 C63 AMG

Recommended Posts

Picked this up off a member here to replace my e39 540i. Wanted something that would best the 540i in every category, handling, acceleration, braking, speed, sound, looks, and this fits the bill.

Have been meaning to post a log but didnt get around to it till now.

Real carbon fibre spoiler and diffuser fitting. Notice the ‘spare’ bits in the last photo that of course required removal to refit.

Wut? ?

Some came without an LSD? ~450hp RWD.

Not performance version and no LSD.

Many performance pack ones dont come with LSD either.

This was on purpose as

- i would have changed the stock LSD for a wavetrac

- i prefer the look of the silver calipers and will upgrade the caliper pistons anyway

- tune adds about 50hp anyway as the Throttle bodies are restricted to ~70% in the C63 vs E63/s63/cls63

Can do 0-100 in about 4.0 after tune and ps4s tires.

Mmmmm very nice!

Seems you're rather in love with it.

With the facelift front and those wheels they really look superb, much nicer than the current C63.

How is the rear tyre wear going?

So far so good. Pilot sport 4 and i think 4s also have a 30,000 mile guarantee in the states so Michelin have confidence in them.

If i get 25,000km then ill be happy.

But... is there any reason at all, good or bad, to leave out an LSD? That's madness. Or are they wanting you to rely on the traction control?

Seems mental to me with anything capable of breaking traction. No driving on the limit. :(

Probably just price and slow speed turn in.

Factory rears are 255 tires also....

The small rear tires and anaemic rear arches are imo this cars main weakness.

Guys in the US buy an arch set for about 2000USD, pay another 2000usd to have the rear cut and these fitted and painted.

Pricey but lets them fit 325  wheels/tires and looks great.

I've heard of people getting under 10km on PSS. So would be interesting to hear how you go.

I believe it came with performance pack till 2010 then was separated out as another option.

Such a beautiful car. My father is looking at one, possibly an estate but that looks super tidy. Keep us all updated with how it goes.
I also owned a Motorsport 540i e39 but it was 2001. Great cars to say the least.

Tire update, PS4S at 6mm rear after 5000km from 7.3mm start. So looking like ill get ~20,000 from rears. No tracking and mix of weekday commute and weekend blasts.

Will add pics but I have bought a flex fuel kit for it and now run it on e85 with a little 98 so usually ~e60.

Kit has a small bluetooth control unit and a conductivity probe in the fuel line so adjust fuel mapping based on ethanol content. Apparently worth 20-30 whp.
