H1 LED Conversion Kits?

Recommended Posts

Plug and play, something like this:

LED tech is pretty good now, are these a worthy upgrade from halogen for main, high, fogs? They're not cheap but might be worth it, I don't know. Might also need CANBUS units.

Insights?

One thing you have to appreciate about modern cars is the lighting, it's just so much better than it used to be.

Fwiw, I upgraded my stock H7 halogens to the top rated H7 halogens which were Philips racing vision +150% and noticed very little difference.

Imo for a decent upgrade you will need led or hid.

I will be curious to see the results you get.

Instant wof fail, can't fit HID or LED bulbs to lights that weren't originally designed for them.

18. A headlamp is retrofitted with a type of light source other than that specified by the vehicle manufacturer or the headlamp manufacturer (eg a headlamp designed for a halogen bulb is fitted with any other type of light source such as an HID or LED bulb, or any other light source such as LED strips or non-OEM angel eyes) (Note 8)

whilst lighting is undoubtedly better it is more and more common to be dazzled by oncoming cars..When conditions arent the best, raining, grubby screens, the bright street lights and hi lumen count oncoming headlights make night driving less pleasant than when we all operated with 55w halogens.

I dont know if it me but i was sometimes aware that the 120d(factory hids) and now the fortuner(factory LED) make it unpleasantly bright for people driving just ahead of me when i am in the RH lane and they in the left lane..They are sitting in the upward flare of BRIGHT lights.

too many lumens imho

I feel like the dazzling of oncoming cars is more a function of poor light aiming, uneven loading of a car or the most frequent one, the poor condition of roadways ad constantly changing elevations. Headlights now more than ever concentrate light to minimize glare and blinding on-coming traffic. Of course, since the beam is so concentrated though, when it does get shined into your keys it is rather unpleasant. Maybe we should consider fixing our roads? https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/113895851/giant-penis-drawings-show-up-on-auckland-road-in-protest-at-collapsing-beach-road

Even my wife was saying 'the lights really date cars' - new lights and 'lighting signatures' are very cool.

Slight hijack sorry...

I have the 'projector' style that uses an H3 bulb. But the stock fogs have H1 with a base plug. Is there an easy way to switch back to stock?
